CM: Calhanoglu to benefit from Rangnick’s arrival – he will be at the centre of the project

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set for yet another revolution in the summer, and one player who could reportedly benefit is Hakan Calhanoglu.

CEO Ivan Gazidis has an agreement with Ralf Ragninck who will take the place of both Stefano Pioli as the head coach and both Zvonomir Boban and Ricky Massara on the recruitment side.

Multiple reports are claiming that there is a three-year contract ready for the current Red Bull Head of Football and with his arrival some of the hierarchies of the current squad will also change.

As calciomercato.com report, among the players who could find new life from the change of manager above all is Hakan Calhanoglu. The ex Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been an important player under Pioli as a trequartista, a role he also held in Germany.

The report claims the Turkey international has a strong admirer in Rangnick, who wanted to sign him for Leipzig during the last two summer windows and came close in particular last year.

Today, Calhanoglu is happy at Milan and with Ragninck he knows he will have a lot of importance and playing time. The problem therefore remains only the renewal of his contract, which is set to expire on 30 June 2021.

Talks over a new deal have, at least so far, been put on stand-by due to the uncertainty surrounding the Rossoneri leadership. The report concludes by claiming that this is an uncertainty that will only vanish, confirming Calhanoglu instead as being at the centre of Milan’s present and future plans.
