CM: Chelsea man Ziyech remains a target for Milan – when negotiations could unlock

By Isak Möller -

Hakim Ziyech was heavily linked with a move to AC Milan for a few days but the rumours have slowed down as of late. The Rossoneri are still interested in the Moroccan but have other priorities for now.

Ziyech is looking to leave Chelsea this summer after getting less playing time than expected at the club. Furthermore, the manager Thomas Tuchel doesn’t consider the winger as a key player for the Stamford Bridge side.

Milan have expressed their interest and as said, the negotiations seemed advanced for a little while. According to Calciomercato.com, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are still interested in the winger and a loan deal is also possible.

So, what is holding them back? Milan currently have other priorities (such as De Ketelaere) and for the right-wing, they don’t want to make any rushed decisions. The financial conditions, above all, have to be right and waiting could help them with that.

Chelsea have slapped a €25m price tag on Ziyech and Milan have taken note of their willingness to loan him out initially (with an option or most likely an obligation). As said, however, the Rossoneri won’t rush things and could wait until the end of the transfer window.

The reason behind this is their current depth on the right-wing, with both Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias available. The same cannot be said for the No.10 role, which is why De Ketelaere is a priority right now.

  1. We arguably have the same depth struggles in both positions lmao I don’t understand M&M, I trust them but at the same time I feel like they know that our weakest part of the team was significantly the attack and is why we need a new RW

    1. It’s not M&M fault. They don’t have a reasonable budget. They probably have to chose between CDK and a RW. Going w CDK based on youth, potential, and resale value. Agree we need BOTH (and a CB, mid and back up LB) but w this ownership we are lucky to get one. Fkn sad. Juve just bought Bremer for 47M and we are yet to get one transfer (that isnt free) over the line lol. Embarassing IMO

      1. Juventus sold De Lift for 80m hence the big purchase of Bremer. Can’t spend what you don’t have (well, you can but then the club goes into debt and likely eventually ends up in Serie D)

          1. True, but they sold off their future to be able to spend now. Not sure where they think the revenue will come from now that so much of their future rights have already been monetized but they probably think that they will figure out a solution at that time. Just glad Milan aren’t following that path.

  2. I continue to state that every other rival is wrapping up their mercato and we haven’t begun. Why is it taking weeks to get de ketelaere and ziyech? Either offer what they want and get it done or move on… It should never take over 3 weeks to sign a player. De ligt was finished in under 48hrs

  3. He wont come unless lord saladmaker out or we failed get CDK. Our budget are limited and elliot only thinking capital gain by reducing transfer budget & using salary cap. As long as elliot still have share in AC Milan, this policy will continue. The redbird are just the same policy with elliot unless some rich guy willing invest to redbird and buy elliot share
