CM: Chelsea’s €130m Lukaku pursuit double good news for Milan – Ziyech idea gaining steam

By Oliver Fisher -

Chelsea’s pursuit of Romelu Lukaku has provided AC Milan with a boost in their hopes of signing Hakim Ziyech, according to a report.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Ziyech has always been Milan’s first choice to replace Hakan Calhanoglu given his tactical versatility, as he can play either as an attacking midfielder, a right winger or even as a mezzala in a 4-3-3 formation if needed.

He has struggled to settle in the Premier League and Thomas Tuchel does not consider him an indispensable player, but Chelsea – with the €130m signing of Lukaku growing nearer – need to thin out their squad and raise some funds.

Chelsea could agree to the formula of a loan with option to buy and potentially a buy-back clause included like the Brahim Diaz operation. Ziyech, along with Abraham, is one of the candidates to be sold.

Lukaku’s departure therefore represents doubly positive news for AC Milan fans: it not only weakens Inter, but also puts Chelsea in the position to sell Ziyech.

  1. Good thing? Selling Lukaku means weakening competition for others and it is a big loss for Serie A as well. Do not think that we can grow by ourselves, the league has to be strong in the first place. If Ronaldo, Lukaku and Zlatan didn’t come to Serie A where would its reputation be? If you want to go back to the dominance of Juventus, then go.

    1. The Italian national team just won the Euros with mostly serie a players. They are young now but in a few years names Chiesa, Berardi, Berella and Locatelli will be global stars. There’s no loss in moving on from these older expiring players.

      1. Serie A deserves to be praised more than the Premier League and for that reason we need stars like them also. Italy’s future is bright and there is no doubt about it but people follow individuals (stars) that is the problem. Otherwise, if people followed a team like us, there wouldn’t have been any problem.
