With Hakan Calhanoglu’s current deal set to expire in June 2021, there is a race against time for AC Milan to try and secure his renewal.
Over the past few months Calhanoglu has exploded and has shown just how valuable he can be to Stefano Pioli’s side when played in his preferred role of attacking midfielder.
In the derby win over Inter he was decisive, playing a ball over the top towards Ibrahimovic who was then cut down in the area by Kolarov.
According to Calciomercato.com, he is playing like a top player and expects a contract to match, and he has all the cards as Milan cannot run the risk of losing the Turkey international on a free transfer.
The first request from Calhanoglu was about €5million net per season, but directors Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini have a lower budget considering the parameters dictated by Elliott Management with regard to the wage budget.
A new meeting between the parties is expected in the next three to four days is expected between the management and Hakan’s agent Gordon Stipic in which key developments could happen.
