CM: Day of reckoning arrives for Milan star – the latest as Man Utd, Juventus contacts are confirmed

By Oliver Fisher -

The moment of truth has come for Hakan Calhanoglu, and a meeting with his agent is scheduled for Wednesday to resolve his future.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, directors Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini will meet with Calhanoglu’s representative Gordon Stipic to try and finally understand if there is the scope to continue together.

The first request of €6m net per season from Calhanoglu’s side was met with almost surprise by Milan, who have no doubt about the importance of the player but they do not see it viable to more than double his salary given the current economic crisis affecting football.

In the last few weeks the 26-year-old’s desire to continue alongside Ibrahimovic and his other team-mates has forced Calhanoglu to reflect. Maldini and Massara presented a first offer of €3-3.5m, and it could be improved further.

There have been contacts between Stipic and Manchester United, Napoli, Inter, Juventus and Atletico Madrid but there are no advanced negotiations.

Calhanoglu’s will is to try not to abruptly end his time with the Rossoneri, and we await the signals that filter after today’s meeting.
