CM: De Ketelaere rejoined Atalanta on loan with obligation – why both clubs benefit

By Oliver Fisher -

Some rather interesting details have emerged regarding Charles De Ketelaere’s move to join Atalanta on a permanent basis, according to a report.

As Calciomercato.com report, the fact remains that De Ketelaere will still be an Atalanta players beyond the summer and his adventure at Milan has come to an end. However, it is not a straight sale but rather a loan with obligation to redeem, which can be enforced from 1 February 2025.

Milan, in mid-June, put out a press release which made official that ‘the right to the sporting performances of Charles De Ketelaere are entirely owned by Atalanta’, which left out some key details regarding the actual formula.

La Dea realised a few weeks ago that they did not have enough time to trigger their option to buy deal, mainly because they held out right until the end of the clause being active to try and get a discount.

For this reason, it was decided to try and move the CDK deal into the 2025-26 budget, thanks to the inclusion of conditions for the obligation to buy that will come into force after the end of the next January window.

This also benefits Milan, because in this way the €32m plus €3m in bonuses paid to Club Brugge will be amortised for another year and the Rossoneri make a greater capital gain. The obligation to buy the Belgian for €22m euros will come into force in February.

  1. Watch him score waaaaay more goals than Morata. Hopefully we can get Fullkrug and Camarda starts having some minutes, otherwise we are gonna have a huge gap in goals by the end of the season.

    1. You are right. I don’t have confidence in Morata. Honestly, I don’t like the idea of buying him, but, what is certain that makes Milan buying him is because he is cheap. Milan are after cheapness all the time. Athletico Madrid that sold to them are after Olmo & Alvarez, see the difference please. Milan are stil not ready for the big occasion, Cardinal should please sell the team to serious guys

      1. Sell the club and get random chinese or american again ?? Dude , now owner cannot use their money to fund club. No arab kingdom are interested to buy italian club, what can this club offer to arab ? Low income , last time win CL in 2007 , no stadium and modern infrastructure training ground , it is better they buy EPL club with cheap price 500m euro rather than pay 2 billion euro for italian club

  2. Too cheap!
Milan need to take advantage of players who are talented and try to sell for more.
This way Atalanta still have a bargain price.

  3. After the stupid decisions made by this management so far the gap has prob widen by another 10 points to just inter thats not even factoring in Juve. Jokers

  4. Omg should’ve let their option expire and easily sell to desperate epl clubs for 30mil plus and NOW instead of next year

  5. Transfermarkt says it was a straight sell for 22M in July 2024. Is CM ok or are the writers on stronger stuff than usually?

  6. What? What benefit? 😆 shameless spin

We are getting basically the same annout of money, but later.

If they missed on the deadline fo the clasue, then we should offer him to other clubs. He outperformed his buy out clause, and we should be able to capitalize on it.

There must be som other reasons behind the scenes, because finansially it’s an L

    1. Nope , atalanta pay at february 2025 . So this summer budget only 50-60m euro + sale from player like salladmaker, ballotoure, origi etc
