CM: €40m price tag scares Milan off defender; Arsenal and Atletico Madrid in pole

By Oliver Fisher -

Juventus defender Merih Demiral may be set to leave in January but a move to AC Milan seems doubtful, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recently reported that Milan could try and sign a centre-back in the winter mercato due to their struggles at the back so far this season.

However, they also claimed that a lot will be placed upon Mattia Caldara’s return to the fold and whether that goes to plan, plus the emphasis seems to be on signing a midfielder and a striker at the moment.

Demiral is a player who has been linked with a move to the Rossoneri since the closing days of the summer window, and according to the latest reports from Calciomercato.com, he could say farewell to Juve in January.

The outlet claims that the 21-year-old is ‘unhappy with his lack of playing time’ having made just one appearance so far this season under Maurizio Sarri.

Despite this, the Bianconeri‘s sporting director Fabio Paratici values the Turkey international and has slapped a €40million price tag on him – a figure which will apparently scare Milan away.

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are now the frontrunners to sign Demiral, while Manchester United have also been linked.
