As news about Mike Maignan’s renewal being nearly completed filters through, it is partnered with less-than-positive news about his compatriot and the time is ticking for Milan. According to reports, Maignan’s contract is in the final stages, but meetings are yet to begin regarding Theo’s, according to a report from Calciomercato.com.
In a report today, they have suggested that the complex is ‘more complex’ leaving all parties on stand-by. During the summer, it was reported that talks would start after the mercato’s closure, but there has been no movement yet.
At present, it seems like it may remain this way too with the French left-back still demanding an €8 million net salary per season, so the ball is in his court. If he is willing to listen to the ideas of the Rossoneri, progress could be made. However, it must be made soon.
This summer was when Theo’s value was at its highest, and if things are not wrapped up by next summer, then the Diavolo will be in a very uncomfortable position, one which they are approaching.

We are making deal about 1 mln a year with our best player. I actually understand why we would not submit to lazy Leao demands but Theo is a different story. Every day not renewing him looses more money for us than we would save if he would agree on 1 mln per year reduction.
Hernandez can get a humongous payday from Munich, Man City or Madrid so chances are he’s going to leave for free or become the best paid player at Milan. I think the former is more likely.
The succession plan was originally Kerkez and I think that could have worked out but sadly too late for that – I don’t see us selling Theo next summer, because we don’t have a replacement in place, and frankly he’s incredibly valuable to the team’s performance more than any other player.
There’s a lot of decent young left-backs out there though, so maybe we’d move for someone like Zinchenko in January if planning to sell Theo in summer.

And Zinchenko is older than theo. Not exactly a young promising lb at 28yo.
