CM: How Barcelona got ahead of Milan and Real Madrid in the Güler sweepstakes

By Oliver Fisher -

The race to sign Arda Güler is reaching an important phase and it seems as though Barcelona are the team currently in pole position to land him, a report claims.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, Barcelona director Deco went on a personal mission to Turkey to try and make ground in the talks over Güler, and they have now overtaken Paris Saint-Germain and Milan among others.

Barca have pitched their project to the player and his father while Fenerbahce approve of the transfer formula suggested, which is the payment of his €17.5m clause plus a 20% future resale clause.

One of the conditions that Barcelona appear willing to satisfy – with the promise of being able to pay the clause over two years and thus remain in line with their delicate financial situation – is to leave Güler with Fenerbahce for another season.

However, the Catalan club need to significantly lower their salary before registering new signings and this is the reason why Ilkay Gundogan – signed on a free from Manchester City – has not yet been registered fully.

The next few days are considered decisive for Barcelona to use the advantage gained this week. At the moment, none of Real Madrid, Sevilla or Milan seem to be in a position to stop them.

The Rossoneri strongly wanted the 18-year-old and were even ready to use up their last slot reserved for non-EU players, but they are unable to satisfy the requests of the player’s family, who want a big commission.

  1. Skip. Cannot wasting non EU slot for kid 18 years that cost 37,5m euro ( including 20m euro fee his father asking )

  2. Lol where did all the ppl who wanted Guler to come to Milan disappeared to? I swear these commenters be ADHD 😂😂😂
How Barcelona got ahead of Milan? Oh that’s easy…..they got money 💰🤑💸💶

    1. It is not the money but non EU slot. You sign guler and you cannot sign any other non EU from abroad like kamada , samuel chukwu etc . If just 17,5m euro , ACM can easiliy splash that amount

      1. “ACM can easily splash that amount” – hahahahahaha!!!

Where you been bro? Do you not know who our owners are LOLOLOLOLO….

        Wow

  3. Where does it says in article arda father is demanding 20m commission its says 20% resale clause and on top of that barca are paying their release clause in 2 installements that sumps up their financial position…. the first to act wins the race and parent club are getting good deal so we keep on arguing for every euro we will only get freebies…..

  4. I always said, fly him and his dad to Milan in a private jet, or fly someone to Turkey at the very least. Tell yhem how important he can be in Milan and sign him right there and then. Trigger the biy out clause, buainess done

He is good trust me, otherwise Barca and PSG would not be after him

  5. First question to any player should be: ‘How much do you want to play for AC Milan?’. Anything less than an 8 and we should not go for the player imo.

    1. They want to play for AC Milan, this ownership is running it like Udinese though. Players are realizing they arent coming to AC Milan, the Italian giants willing to win but a shadow of itself becoming a complete mess, with no ambition.

Players were willing to c0me here and we pushed them away over crumbs to let them go to our rivals.

  6. Didnt they publish an article last week confiriming his father was NOT asking for huge comissions? Same one I specified whoever would let him stay on loan in Turkey would be favoured? I thought Real would be most willing to do so because Barca’s finances are a mess. Seems they can avoid FFP while we sell our best players after making a profit and doing well in Europe. Shows it comes down to ownership and upper management with their computer programs running us into the dirt.

I told you so, these people will be the death of our club. Didn’t believe me, the proof is right infront of you 2 seasons in. Their excuse that the transfer window started late last year displays that they are the problem because the same nonsense is recurring .
