CM: Ibrahimovic factor key as Milan look to tie up Zirkzee operation – the latest

AC Milan are moving ‘full steam ahead’ on Joshua Zirkzee, and they hope that they can close the deal in a short period of time having been at work for weeks.

According to Calciomercato.com, the choice to focus on Zirkzee is clear and personally endorsed by RedBird’s Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has used ‘all his influence’ and believes the Dutchman is ‘the cornerstone’ around which the the new era of Milan should be built.

The €40m release clause is of no concern, as it falls within the budget for the summer mercato, given that the biggest expense was always going to be a new striker. Bologna have been informed of the desire to trigger that clause, too.

There will be no negotiations between the Rossoneri and the Rossoblù because the clause – which is valid until the beginning of next month – will be activated. That effectively releases him from his contract there, hence the term release clause.

The last obstacle to overcome is the commissions, a topic of discussion between the Milan transfer team and Kia Joorabchian, Zirkzee’s agent. A meeting took place last week in London, another one will most likely be held next week to bring the parties even closer together.

There is great optimism on the part of Milan, who have set themselves the ultimate objective of obtaining a discount on the starting €12-13m in terms of signing bonuses for those who look after the 23-year-old.

  1. Romano says we’re going all in on Zirkzee – good news as I didn’t sleep last night after reading Lukaku links.

    1. And also Fofana and Santos if things go as planned. Don’t know which CB we are targeting, don’t think it will be Buongiorno.

      1. When I saw Allegri’s links I promised myself am not gonna watch AC Milan match for two years,it was that horrible and I don’t wish to relive such nightmares after the Scudetto year, the Andrea Pirlo gifting to Juventus as I never blamed Galliani and the choice of Matri over Tevez- what a dumb manager.

      2. No I went one week without sleep after hearing links to that lunatic.

        @OwenDeeRed don’t get me started!

  2. Really don’t know if this boy is the best choice … 40m + 12/13m bonuses for his agent and he scored only just 11 goals and help with another 4 asist …. i think we need some kind of massive striker with 20+ goals only in Seria A , not in full seasson

    1. Yes, but he didn’t have Pulisic and Leao either side of him last season. You have to imagine he could greatly improve his output with the kind of service they would provide.

    2. I dont care if he cant reach 20++ goals next season as long as he keep his assists and boost up Leao and Pulisic (and maybe RLC if he still play as AM)

  3. Zirkzee is playing in a league where not many top strikers score goals. Vlahovic, osimhen, thuram were 16 and under. So for zirkzee o score 11 goals at bologna is outstanding. Also, he’s 23 yrs old and he assists and makes plays. He can be that striker we’ve been missing for many years. Just needs to improve on his finishing

    1. I hope so you’re right. Fonseca can be suprise for all of us and if he know how to work with young players . It will be interesting

  4. If this happens, I wonder if all the haters on here who were screaming that these cheap American owners have no ambition and never get their plan A guy will come out and say they were wrong , or at least shut their mouths now.
Naah, who am I kidding. They’ll just start criticizing this signing or the next one. Some have already started.

    1. Last summer they show us what they want. And I think it was a great summer. It is true Inter is 2 rank above us, but the path is made and we will se what players can play next seasson in our jersey. True, there are some mistakes from owners, but club is now healthy and improving every year.

    2. Exactly! If they weren’t so cheap they would buy Sesko, who is a true 9 and exactly the player we need. Not another tricky winger who scored 11 goals and hardly any at all for the last few months of the season.
He is not the player we need, he’s a CDK 2.0

      1. This is not true. Have you even watched Zirkzee play? His confidence levels are well beyond that of CDK. Can he keep playing like he does in Bologna then he will being so much to this team. His tog on the ball is so silky smooth it’s rediculous.

      2. It’s not about spending lavishly during the summer but it’s about buying the right fit for the team, Sesko’s performance will be dependent on the number of services he receives and would still need time of adaptation and we don’t need another CDK while Zee had been in Serie A for the past two seasons and as someone stated before he did amazingly by scoring eleven goals with additional seven assists in the league as this number will skyrocket with Leao and Chukwueze at either sides of him. Zee is a highly technical player as other forwards that we have and so that will make the unpredictability aura of this team visible next season.

        1. Sesko is excellent in the build up phase also, he shoots well with both feet and is fast.
Zirkzee is a lovely footballer but he is not great at shooting. Bare in mind Bologna were excellent this season, not some mid table team and Zirkzee scored 1 goal in their last 11 league games.

      3. You have not seen Sesko play, you know as much about him as you do football finance. Blowing €70 million on such a bad finisher is negligent.

    3. Their argument is “RedBird are cheap yanks because if you break down 100 mil between 8 players it’s only 12.5 mil per player” 🙂

        1. What’s your point? Had they lost players for nothing as the previous regime did, you’d complain about that as well! They sold a player and invested heavily. Milan and Napoli are the only major clubs in Serie A with (virtually) no debts.

  5. Not my first choice, but pleasantly surprised that they seemed serious and willing to move fast in the market. A gift to the new coach indeed.

The agent fee would be a bummer since I personally didn’t like these exorbitant fees and in the past, we’ve had to let Gigio because of this too. But, I suppose, this is a ‘sacrifice’ that has to be made and well worth the investment in the end, as if he blossomed with us, we could easily recuperate that.

  6. Zirkzee is going to be a good buy, cos,it creates Space for other players to Move IN. Moreover, the issues of Commission is not surprise, cos,I remember this same Agent are fund of collecting/ asking for huge Commission. They dis same on CARLOS TEVES, TO WESTHAM ,MASCHERANO TO LIVERPOOL

  7. Imagine being a player, on the verge of a dream move, you’ve agreed a salary and there’s a fee agreed……

…….and you have to sit around wondering if your agent will accept less than €15m in commission in order for you to move.
