It is now a formality that AC Milan will renew Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract for another year, according to a report.
Calciomercato.com write that the renewal of the 39-year-old is almost a formality, after repeated contacts between the striker, his agent Mino Raiola the Rossoneri management in the past weeks. Despite the muscle injuries and having Covid at the beginning of the season, Ibra has confirmed that he is vital on the field with 15 goals in 15 league games.
Technical director Paolo Maldini recognises his importance and – regardless of the arrival of another striker in the summer market – will ensure he stays. Ibra wants to take Milan back to playing the Champions League after 7 years and to return to the main European stage at least for one more time in his career.
Ibrahimovic will continue to receive €7m net, but the parties already agree that the fixed part will be lower and that the bonuses will be decisive for the achievement of the remaining part. The full unity of intent between Ibra, Maldini and the ownership of Milan could lead to an announcement of the signatures on the renewal before the conclusion of this season.
