CM: Inter vs. Milan will be the battle of €60m duo that Real Madrid let go

By Oliver Fisher -

Saturday’s derby between Inter and AC Milan will see two players with relatively similar background stories pitted directly against each other.

All eyes are firmly fixed on Italian football’s showpiece event which will take place at San Siro, with Milan hoping for a league win against their city rivals, something which has been hard to come by in recent seasons.

A key battle will be down Milan’s left side, as full-back Achraf Hakimi was Inter’s big signing from the summer market. After and impressive season at Borussia Dortmund on loan from Real Madrid, the Nerazzurri paid €40million to the LaLiga side to sign him, while the player will receive €5million net per season for the next five years.

Meanwhile, just over a year ago Theo Hernandez arrived at Milan from the same club, with the Rossoneri paying €20m to land the left-back who will be tasked with stopping Hakimi in the derby and also causing problems at the other end.

Two former team-mates will face each other, with both looking like being potential regrets for Milan moving forward.
