CM.it: Milan have not given up on signing Lille midfielder valued at over €35m

AC Milan have not given up on Boubakary Soumaré and could make a new attempt to snatch him from Lille in January, a report claims.

Soumare was one of the names that emerged as a potential alternative to Tiemoue Bakayoko during the summer window, with Calciomercato.com even reporting that the Rossoneri offered a paid loan of €10million with and option to buy at €25m, a formula similar to the Tonali one, but it was refused.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.it, Milan are still closely watching how Soumare’s situation evolves. His contract expires on on 30 June 2022, meaning Lille will be getting a bit nervous about losing such a prized young asset at a cheap price.

Despite the excellent relations between the two clubs, it will not be easy for Milan to land the 21-year-old. The report adds how in the last few days of the window the Ligue 1 club rejected offers of €35million.

The contract situation, with the player seemingly not willing to renew, could however favour the negotiation.
