CM: Juventus begin talks over deal for Hellas Verona star in bid to beat competition from Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Juventus have opened talks over the signing of Hellas Verona centre-back Matteo Lovato, according to a report.

Fabrizio Romano revealed to Calciomercato.com earlier in the month that Milan’s priority for the winter market is to sign a new centre-back, something which has not changed from the last few days of the summer window when they failed to get a deal over the line for a number of different targets.

He added that Hellas Verona’s Lovato is indeed a concrete target for directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, with the 20-year-old having impressed in his breakthrough season so far.

However, according to the latest from the same website, Juventus have been convinced enough by his performances so far and they do not need to see any more.

As a result, the Bianconeri leadership have initiated contacts to try and beat the competition and land one of Italy’s fastest rising defensive prospects.
