CM: ‘London Calling’ – Milan’s possible business involving Arsenal and Chelsea

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan should be set for a very busy summer in the transfer window and it seems that could be plenty of flights between Milan and London, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri hold an interest in multiple targets that currently play for Premier League teams based in London, particularly Arsenal and London.

There appear to be five primary names from Arsenal and Chelsea that Milan hold a serious interest in, and they are Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson and Folarin Balogun.

Heading the other way, Chelsea are seriously interested in signing Mike Maignan from Milan. The French goalkeeper has shown himself to be among the best in the world.

There is currently a very good working relationship between the Milan hierarchy and Chelsea which means some of these deals could really go ahead, although likely not all of them.

    1. Well we’re not going to get linked with a player an English club wants to keep because they don’t have much need to cash in. They’re well paid there and the clubs have enough income to turn down anything except crazy money if they want.

    2. It’s not “trash” simply because it’s unwanted. English clubs have so much money that they can buy a new player for a given position each summer just because it’s the newest shiniest thing.

  1. We’re not going to walk into a negotiation wanting players from England unless we have cash (which we don’t). They’ll obviously want a player from our end, so unless we’re willing to give up a good player in our team for one of theirs then there’s really no point with certain pursuits

  2. Balogan is a bargain for a 21 year old international striker for £40 million. I watched him play in a team that hardly passed him the ball, yet he scored over 20 goals. If Milan don’t buy him, someone else will. They need to stop stalling and spend some money. Same old same old, too little too late.

  3. If Chelsea want to include any more player sales in their accounts for 2022-23, they will need to have them signed off by June 30. It doesn’t seem they will do so and FFP will hit them hard. All clubs know this and they’re waiting for Chelsea to start slapping discounts on their deadwood and unwanted ones. Patience.

  4. This is a lazy recruitment policy. We need to be finding those semi hidden gems, not bartering with prem clubs for their over priced rejects.

  5. I see people are not aware what the “moneyball” is. It’s based on selling best players at their prime and buying cheap young talents which will be sell again after their reach their biggest price. So ,no one in Milan can’t be marked as priceless and not for sale. Maldini probably raised his voice against that menagement’s idea because this is Milan, they should buy Lecce if they wanted to work that way. Such a shame.

    1. You just said that people are not aware what money ball is and that proceed to prove to us that you have no clue what money ball is.
Most people have never heard the term money ball until last week and all of a sudden they are experts in it

      1. with all due respect theres a famous movie with brad pitt in it that at least has made non american people who doesnt follow the sport of baseball somewhat aware of the term and if they liked the movie they propably read further in to the matter i know i did long before it was an actual thing in ac milan. I never read the book moneyball myself though but still read a bit up on it but some time ago.
Its stats based searching and with a view on bottom level/potential level perfomance in variables from price versus results from what i recollect and also utilizing players qualities in other positions where they might not have played before as their stats has gone down but others has stayed up,
Please correct me if im completely wrong as im always willing to learn but pretty sure thats at least part of the greater scheme of things.

        1. I already watched the movie too after redbird take over club last year. It is not about all young player but they have old player too as long as have good compatibility data , they ask that old player to guide young player, helping young player adaptation. That role was given to giroud and kjaer now .

          1. Ive been out boozing so sorry about my late reply but i saw the movie maybe ten years ago and then several times after and i actually quite like it and i like the ideas in it as well but in a club like ac milan it should also be in a combination with a couple of marquee signings each year but il’l wait with my final judgement on this management untill seprtember 1rst.
Overall the dieas to operete om stats and potential is ok with me though but not really sure there is anything new under the sun here in the end,

    2. For you,i am an expert for sure. If you didn’t hear for the term moneyball before last week don’t judge the others, there is people that heard and know what it is.

    3. Not really. Ibra, Kjaer and Giroud can as well be considered a moneyball acquisitions considering they came in cheap (free actually) with huge impact on the team, leading those young lads to Scudetto. Moneyball is not about buying cheap talent and sell for high profit. Moneyball is constructing a team through individual statistics and strenghts, which will have the necessary impact on the performance of the entire team. With no money.

    4. Actually what moneyball is all about is identify the key metrics that lead to a player’s success. And then buying the cheapest player with those metrics. In baseball one was “on base percentage”… and so the cheapest players where ones that were walked to 1st base a lot… not hit home runs

  6. Super interesting that every article talks about players we can’t afford. Maldini was fired for wanting a bigger transfer kitty… and then the articles talk about players with salaries we can’t pay and/or transfer fees cardinale won’t pay for
All the data analytics (which is was being done already!) won’t pay these fees or salaries.
At the end of the summer we will again be worse then the previous year as GOOD PLAYERS COST A LOT OF MONEY.
    Carindale will kill us

  7. Ya sure we have interest in several EPL players until we find out the price lol.

LEAO will be sold this summer to PSG. No way Redbird passes up 175M or close to it from PSG once they sell M’Bappe to Real. And most of that $$ will go in Redbirds pockets.
