CM: Maldini holds individual talks with players and demands big push in last five games

By Oliver Fisher -

With five games left in what has been a rollercoaster season for AC Milan, director Paolo Maldini has tried to impart some of his wisdom.

The next home match against Benevento on Saturday night is crucial and a win is the only option as Milan hope to put the nine defeats sustained in 2021 behind them. The management made their closeness to the team felt in the last training session, according to Calciomercato.com, and in particular Maldini.

The ex-captain has been talking face to face with several Rossoneri players, to try to understand in summary what is not going as well compared to several weeks ago. The aftermath of the match against Sampdoria was Theo Hernandez’s turn in form – an evident physical and mental decline.

Yesterday Maldini gave a general speech to the team, urging them not to give up at the decisive moment of the season, then he spoke to Alexis Saelemakers, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Fikayo Tomori. Inside the locker room all the disappointment emerged for having failed two huge games such as those against Sassuolo and Lazio.

A new pact has been established for the Champions League: compact and determined towards these last 5 games of the season.
