The uncertainty surrounding the future of Paolo Maldini and his role as technical director of AC Milan continues, a report claims.
According to Calciomercato.com, the attitude of Milan as a club and the ownership regarding the Maldini dilemma has not changed over the weeks. There will be a meeting to establish whether the former club captain can continue under CEO Ivan Gazidis, who has taken more and more power within the club, both in commercial and technical choices.
The club will dictate the new conditions, so then it comes down to whether Maldini will agree to have less say on market decisions and to have to live with a coach who is probably not his choice in Ralf Rangnick.
Interestingly, Maldini recently spoke to Bobo Vieri about his experience as a director so far.
“Leonardo called me and I learned a lot, when he left I felt alone and, perhaps, not able to do everything alone. I have worked with professionals like Boban and Massara. But I like it, it’s something that comes naturally,” he said.
This could perhaps be construed as a message to the owners, in that he is happy to continue as normal, but the meeting will of course be key.
