CM: Milan have €22m net contract ready for Morata – final green light awaited

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are getting closer to being able to welcome Alvaro Morata as their first summer signing, according to reports.

Calciomercato.com state that Morata is about to make an important decision, perhaps the last of his career. The choice seems to lean more and more towards the Rossoneri and towards Italy, a country that he feels at home in.

Although he has a lot of respect and love for Atletico Madrid and its fans, the possibility of experiencing a new challenge is very attractive. In the last few hours there has been a lot of talk about an attempted hijack by Roma, but Milan seem to be the only team in the running.

At the moment the 31-year-old has reduced his choice to just two options: the Rossoneri or Atletico Madrid. In the meantime the LaLiga giants are already looking around for a possible replacement such as Artem Dovbyk of Girona and Randal Kolo Muani of PSG.

Milan have a four-year contract worth €5.5m net per season ready for Morata. As soon as they get the final green light, Ibrahimovic will inform Atletico Madrid of his willingness to pay the €13m release clause.

If everything goes according to plan, Morata will undergo medical tests between Tuesday and Wednesday – as we reported first – and then leave for vacation.

  1. Morata is a good choice. Mature and experienced both in Serie A and Champions League. This type of deals are also beneficial for Camarda who has the privilege to learn from the likes of Giroud, Ibra and now Morata.

      1. David might be consindered overpriced for a 1 year left contract player. Management want significant discount for him.

        1. He has 1 year left. A deal in 25-28M region is both fair and a steal… Morata + J.David will be less than Zirkzee…

          1. Jonathan David with 4 years left on his contract isn’t worth 30 mil let alone with 1.
Media has been hyping him up for 3 years now and yet he is still at Lille and no one is dying to buy him.
He is nothing more than a penalty merchant.

      2. Depends on what coach wants. It seems he wants a tall and strong #9 and I don’t see anyone else in the market like that for a reasonable price. Personally I’d prefer Scamacca but Morata will do ok. Not great, but ok.

  2. Milan 13th in the Deloitte money league, Athletico 15th
Yet Milan buy their old cast offs while they go for the younger better options

  3. Meanwhile Dortmund just put the 17.5M Guirassy signing on hold. Because during a medical examination of Serhou Guirassy, an injury was discovered that requires further investigation.

It is unclear how long it will take for Dortmund to conduct further tests, or if it could completely derail the deal.

  4. @Romano: AC Milan have made contact with AS Roma for Tammy Abraham.

He’s one of the options being considered as Milan want three strikers for next season.

Tammy would also be keen on the move.

From good to bad to worst.

    1. So there’s no news whatsoever regarding Broja’s signing. Maybe he’s overpriced for his performance last season
