CM: Milan and Benfica in advanced negotiations over midfielder – the details

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are preparing for a youth revolution this summer, and it seems the midfield will experience the most changes. Several midfielders could leave the Rossoneri and there are also many names on their wish list.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are confirmed departures due to their contracts expiring, while the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Rade Krunic and Franck Kessie could follow suit.

Meanwhile, negotiations have resumed with regards to the incoming targets. After the unsuccessful attempt in January, Milan are ready to give it another shot for Benfica’s young talent Florentino Luis.

In recent months, the clubs have talked on multiple occasions but there has been a pause for reflection recently, relating to the idea of exchanging Florentino for Paqueta. The latter is liked by the Portuguese side but the salary is a problem.

The negotiations for a transfer solely involving Florentino, however, are at a much more advanced stage. In fact, there is an agreement in principle on the formula (loan with an option) but the figures are yet to be defined, per the report.

Initially, Benfica slapped a price tag of €45m on 20-year-old but as a result of the intense contacts, Milan were able to lower the claims. The negotiations are on the right track and it could end in favour of the Rossoneri.
