CM: Milan changed their mind on Rangnick as he rejected amended offer – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

It was all change regarding the future of AC Milan on Tuesday as it was confirmed Stefano Pioli will be remaining as head coach.

As Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s brace was firing Milan into a 2-1 half-time lead against Sassuolo, news broke from Germany claiming Rangnick’s move to Milan had collapsed, with Pioli instead set to remain and sign a new contract. The news was confirmed on the club’s official website after the 2-1 win at the Mapei Stadium.

As Calciomercato.com notes, the Rossoneri have decided to abandon the track that leads to Rangnick despite being in talks since last November.

Pioli instead has been rewarded for his excellent work this calendar year with an extended stay on the bench.

The basis of the breakdown was Rangnick’s refusal to devote himself entirely to the role of technical director and co-exist with Pioli, as the German instead wanted a greater say on training and the team. He is now set to sign an extension of his contract with the Red Bull group.
