AC Milan are closing in on the signing of Marco Pellegrino from Atletico Platense. The deal could be closed in the coming hours, as per a report, and the Rossoneri would thus complete the defence.
Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada have been scouting the market for a centre-back ever since Matteo Gabbia left for Villarreal on a season-long loan. Pellegrino has been identified as the primary target and he could soon arrive.
According to Calciomercato.com, the player is really just one step away from Milan, who could close the deal at €6m plus a percentage on a future resale. The Rossoneri have thus shaved €2m off of the initial demand made by the Argentine side.
At the age of 21, Pellegrino is believed to have a very bright future ahead of him and another perk is the fact that he’s left-footed. Furthermore, he has an Italian passport and would not occupy a non-EU slot.
Lets see if the arrival of a new CB could push Fik back to his best. Something competition is needed in order for players to give their best. Fik in particular and also Kalulu has dropped miserably since last season.
Also with Kjaer getting older, we pretty much have only Thiaw as a good CB
We’ve made a lot of squad personnel changes so I understand the management not tinkering too much with the defence.
But next summer I expect us to sell Tomori as the “Tonali” of that window, ie to fund signings like a starting calibre no.9
So with Kjaer likely also leaving, hopefully this guy Pellegrino and Thiaw can be somewhat decent partnership by the end of this season. Don’t know much about him so at the moment that seems like wishful thinking.
Exactly what I think will happen. They should have sold Timori instead this summer rather than Tonali. At least we have some cover in defence for Tim. We have a whole new midfield
I think Moncada should act fast on bringing in pellegrino, Calafiori, another center back and striker to complete the team for the season.
