CM: Milan deserve praise for standing firm against Raiola – no player is bigger than the club

AC Milan have sent an important message to Mino Raiola by choosing to let Gianluigi Donnarumma potentially walk away for free, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan’s decision to push through the deal for Mike Maignan does not represent an upgrade, because the Frenchman is a good goalkeeper and is entering his prime but he is not on the level of Gianluigi Donnarumma. However, there is an even more important aspect in which Milan have strengthened.

Milan have shown themselves to be a strong management with clear ideas and the right attitude to face difficulties, as seen in the tug of war with Mino Raiola over Donnarumma’s new deal. They kept the environment as calm as possible waiting for the decisive match against Atalanta, ensuring there were no distractions, and then they moved to ensure they are protected for the future.

It is a ‘message to the world, but also to Raiola’ that every player is important – especially an elite-level player in his position like Donnarumma – but nobody is bigger than the club. For that, the management deserves even greater consideration than the one they enjoyed with Gigio. Players matter, but the club always comes first.
