CM: Milan deserve praise for standing firm against Raiola – no player is bigger than the club

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have sent an important message to Mino Raiola by choosing to let Gianluigi Donnarumma potentially walk away for free, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan’s decision to push through the deal for Mike Maignan does not represent an upgrade, because the Frenchman is a good goalkeeper and is entering his prime but he is not on the level of Gianluigi Donnarumma. However, there is an even more important aspect in which Milan have strengthened.

Milan have shown themselves to be a strong management with clear ideas and the right attitude to face difficulties, as seen in the tug of war with Mino Raiola over Donnarumma’s new deal. They kept the environment as calm as possible waiting for the decisive match against Atalanta, ensuring there were no distractions, and then they moved to ensure they are protected for the future.

It is a ‘message to the world, but also to Raiola’ that every player is important – especially an elite-level player in his position like Donnarumma – but nobody is bigger than the club. For that, the management deserves even greater consideration than the one they enjoyed with Gigio. Players matter, but the club always comes first.

  1. UEFA swiftly interfered against the idea of a Super league, but it never says anything against the likes of Raiola. Why ? Is Raiola their benefactor ?

  2. HELL YEAH! 110% the right decision (plus, when/if you read the article about how much Milan will save in the following 5 years with Mike instead of Gigio, between 80 % 85 mil).
Yes, Mike’s not on that level as Dollarumma, but nevertheless, he’s an excellent goalkeeper! And in order to be a great team, you need a great keeper, not neccessary the best one! You need a great team, and that’s exactly what we have now!

So, RESIGN IL PRESIDENTE, give him at least 5 mil per season *even 6 if he asks for it), cuz God knows, the fellow deserves it! he loves the club, he’s loyal, never even said a word about going to another club, not even thinking about it, despite the HUGE INTEREST FROM THE ENGLISH PIRANAS!
And I’m sure no one will object to give him the arm band ! Surely, he won’t be ahead of Ibra, but definitely is the right choice for a team’s captain!

    1. Don’t get over your head. There is a 5 million cap for everyone.

4-5 million would be a huge raise from his current 2.2m salary & the club should by no means go over than that amount.

    2. Roila is an animal!like wise donnarumma! can’t he change new agent? hope he Will regret like shevshenko

  3. If he move to Milan competitor, we cannot imagine what would be done by Curva Sud when Milan home his team.

I totally agree, nobody is bigger than the club, especially for the player who never win any prestigious trophies.

  4. We exposed Donnarumma as a money grabber…8M was too much in the 1st place..KESSIE should be our best paid player….6M if he wants it.He is consistent and loyal…pls make him IL CAPITANO..

    1. What does it mean “if he wants it”. There is a salary cap of 5 million for everyone with the exception of Ibrahimovic. If somebody wants more – they are free to leave.

Kessie’s current salary is 2.2m. Even a raise to 4 million would be more than sufficient.

  5. Donna did good but riola made a hostage situation, best of luck to donnarumma he I think will go to Barcelona or juve, players play for shirt not purely money, riola always looks greedy, here the only regret is that we couldn’t sell Donna for good money .

    1. That’s my major regret…
We should have cashed out of him, when we could.
There aren’t a perfect team anywhere, he can’t walk-in to any club and be a hero.
Such spot are not earned that way.
I wish him well, but not a blossom career.

  6. I liked how Milan deal with the situation and not allowing it to affect the other players while the season was ongoing. Riola is a greedy human being the same thing he did to Man united in the case of Pogba and when united wanted to buy Halaan a year ago. I don’t want my club to deal with a player which agent is Riola.
