Perhaps nobody expected AC Milan would get to the Champions League semi-final, but the defeats against Inter and the poor league form risks rendering the season a disappointment.
Calciomercato.com talks about how ‘reset and restart’ are the two key words at Milan after the bitter elimination from the Champions League at the hands of their city rivals, in which gap between the two teams in terms of depth and quality was there for all to see.

The Nerazzurri can count on luxury alternatives such as Romelu Lukaku and Marcelo Brozovic who would be starters elsewhere. The strengthening of the squad has become a priority for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, who are in turn called to redeem the summer transfer market.
Napoli’s success in the league has opened up a new potential way of doing business: sell players to then buy more who are better, with additional economic resources compared to the budget already set.
The Milan owners expect a strategic change from their management which is to be more effective when it comes to offloading players that are no longer deemed part of the project.
There are 11 players who could leave starting with the certainties: Mirante, Tatarusanu, Dest, Bakayoko and Ballo Toure. The Rossoneri are ready to listen to offers for Rebic, Origi and Adli who have found few opportunities with Pioli.
Vranckx is ever closer to returning to Wolfsburg while Ibrahimovic is talking to Galliani about ending his career at Monza. Milan looking for a new right winger too and it could be Messias who makes room for him in the squad.

Few more players that also need to bounce.
Brahim Diaz, it’s been 3 years, still the same flaws, thanks and good bye.
Florenzi, waste of space and money. He will be the new Bakayoko, useless player who will collect 3mil for 2 more years.
Simon Kjaer, I lost all respect for him during the 1st leg of the semi final, when he was subbed off during the game and went straight to the locker room because he was upset. And you suppose to be the elder statesman on the team and a leader. Unacceptable.
I would test the market for Tomori. His behavior while Tata was a starting GK was despicable.
Showing your GK up in front of the world after every mistake, but then Maignan comes back and Tomori got exposed for the fraud he is. Lautaro owns him. Send him back to EPL and sign N”dicka on a free transfer.
On the other side, if CDK gets to have another chance to prove himself so should Adli, especially if there is a change of a coach.
I totally agree. Diaz is a waste of time and money. For one decent match, we have to undergo 10 mediocre ones. €20 mio or so for such a player would be a nonsense. It hurts me to say that but Putanoglu would have been a much more useful player in the squad. Kjaer is over the hill but he can possibly help on an adhoc basis.

He was upset for the defeat – not getting subbed. There’s a huuuuuge difference there. NO ONE should have been “not upset” in his place.
He was subbed off in the 59th minute of that game. There were 30+ minutes left in the game, it wasn’t over. What defeat? The game lasts 90 minutes not 60.
He got into his feelings and went straight to the locker room.
It would make a huuuuuge difference if you actually think for a few seconds before you respond.
I think the response was a good one. He was right to be upset and angry. Why the **** not? He knew they gifted two goals way too early and risked reaching the final already in less than 15 minutes. You better be angry after such display. Get mad and get even. That’s the spirit. Not crying on the bench feeling sorry for yourself. You go and break stuff and let the anger out. Express yourself and don’t bottle it in.
Sell players? Who, Tonali, Theo, Bennacer or Leao?
The only player of worth we could sell that that wouldn’t be a complete exercise in cutting off our nose to spite our face is Tomori. I’m not saying he is expendable.
Yacine Adli should be reintegrated into the team during the summer with aggression as Bennacer will be out for a minimum of 5¹/2 months or better still should be loan out on dry one to a newly promoted Seria A team to familiarise himself with the league.
As I have previously mentioned on this platform before Diaz is confused and inconsistent so should be shipped back to Madrid or should be shifted permanently to the right wing and an actual playmaker should be signed to compete with CDK and Adli if he will remain cause I still believe in them as with the project philosophy the Management should give them time to allow gradual growth and Pioli must learn from his mistakes of the past of not integrating new players on time and should adopt a policy of not featuring underperformed player in the upcoming match no matter the level showed in training to make them work effectively and efficiently during the course of a season as this policy would allow minutes and game time get across to all the players and yet drive them to give more and be consistent. And Pioli should also shift formation base on the characteristics of players available to him as he could have switched to 343 formation of 352 when R Leao was unavailable as he must show some level of flexibility with creativity and not the rigidity he showed all season.
Every other players on that list should be sold.
Thanks.
Repost:
Here is a list of 5 players who will be without contract in June:
Evan Ndicka, CB, 23
Macus Thuram, CF, 25
Dauchi Kamada, CAM, 26
Youri Tielemans, CM, 26
Marco Asensio, RW, 27
Do we really need to invest a lot of money or do we need smart signings?
I see Tielemans as Bennacers perfect replacement.
Kamada could compete with CDK for the CAM position. I don’t think Milan will invest more than 15 mio for Diaz. I would send him back to Madrid!
Thuram should be our main striker, he is 192 cm and scores goals and he is French (quick adoption to the squad with so many french speaking team mates)
Ndicka, Thiaw and Tomori could be our main CBs with Kjaer & Gabbia as backups) I dont see kalulu as CB, he and Calabria should compete for the RB role
Asensio is the RW Maldini wanted for a long time, he could solve out RW problems. Alexis and Messias can compete for the backup position.
It is not so easy. Mutual agreement is necessary to bring player to the club. Specifically if it is stronger name. And then there are many other clubs that will bid and could offer more expensive contract to free agent.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
André Onana
Hakan Calhanoglu
Paulo Dybala
Paul Pogba
Ángel Di María
Adrien Rabiot
how can juve, inter or roma reach mutual agreements with this player but we not?
how can Maldini go months and months after zyiech and abandon dybala on a free transfer?
I have a lot of respect for Maldini and Massara and thankful for what they achievied last year, but admitting own mistakes is need in order to improve and learn from it.
We lost Kessie, Hakan and Donnarumma on free stansfers – no body expected to replace them by 100mio signings, but at least replace them with other free transfers like dybala etc..
Because they don’t have a WAGE CAP and therefore offer and pay the for players MORE $$$ then we do. Pretty simple lol
If we look couple past years ago, Milan sell only Hauge for some bigger fee. And that fee is small actually.
Some big names left for free, in terms to try extend new contract, and in same time to keep squad stronger in those years.
But now, Milan gave stronger contracts to some names, and offloads od players who can’t contribute to team is necessary.
Problem will be new arrivals. How they are going to adopt and when. Specifically if Milan lose champions league next year.
Almost half of squad must out if AC Milan want to improve. Mirante & Tata both GK have contract expire, Dest,Brahim,Aster Prank, bakayoko end of their loan. Imposible to sell our old player like kjaer & Florenzi , all we can do just waiting their contract expire and dont renew them( Florenzi 2025 expire,Kjaer i forgot when expire) . List of player that we must sell so badly : Origoat,Rebic,Junior,Ballo Toure. Loan for playtime : Lazetic,Adili,CDK,Gabbia,Nasti.
3 Position urgen for starter : Striker that ready for starter no need adapt time like CDK ( Giroud stamina cannot play full starter anymore, make him supersub better). RW that can service striker with crossing ,passing in tight defense area ,provide asist. DMF that have strong physical & high ball recovery with same level like casemiro/gattuso/carnavinga. The other position can wait till next year summer market because AC Milan budget limited
Why sell Kjaer? He was one of the best against Tottenham and Napoli. If it hadn’t been for him, who would have stopped Kane…? He’s on his way back from a knee injury and does these games with a rating of 7-8. That’s impressive. The youngsters need people like kjaer, Giroud and Zlatan. They’re helping in building up this squad.
Sell Leao. We need that money to truly improve the squad. Leao will never fulfill his potential with any squad Milan can put together.
Also, keep Messias. It will be hard to replace him without spending a lot of $. With the right players around him he is a very threatening offensive player.
Convince Ibra to stay as a player coach.
Buy Kessie back.
Give Pobega a consistent role. He’s ready to explode.
Giroud can handle striking duties for two more years with the right players around him.
LOLOLOLO….you lost me when you said keep Messias and that he can be a threatening offensive player with the right players around him. LOL
I think this guy is an inter Milan fan who doesn’t want the best for the team
