AC Milan have just three victories in their last 11 games and they are now very much at risk of missing out on the top four, with the attack continuing to misfire.
As Calciomercato.com report, Milan really have problems scoring against the lower-ranking sides in the league having netted just two goals in the games against Empoli, Salernitana, Cremonese and Spezia.

They have obtained only one win out of their last five games against teams fighting to avoid relegation, with matches against Sampdoria and Verona still to come, while in the first half of the season they have five wins and two draws against the bottom seven.
One possible reason lies in the inability to handle the two fronts – the Serie A and the Champions League – with a massive use of turnover which has led to an identity crisis as well as a sacrifice of the quality given the level of the depth options.
Pioli will obviously take some criticism, because he was unable to find variations in the system and style of play, nor has he developed a Plan B against those teams that leave no space to play on the counter.
The last summer transfer window didn’t bring any improvements compared to the squad that won the Scudetto. The team has also even weakened with the departures of Kessie and Romagnoli, while the disappointments De Ketelaere and Origi have exacerbated what is a chronic problem for Milan: scoring.
That’s why at least two or three quality signings will be needed in the attacking department to try and fix things, because the renewals of Giroud and Leão are important but cannot be enough.
The issue is: will Ownership provide the necessary $$ to buy 2-3 ESTABLISHED READY TO PLAY STARTING CALIBER PLAYERS or willcontinue to go the YOUTH route instead and buy cheaper younger players with the POTENTIAL to develop (or not) into starters in a few years time…it backfired this past summer and Ownership certainly did not want to fix in the winter window – so there you have it. We will see but I highly doubt Resbird/Elliot will deviate from their youth policy, limited transfer budget and wage cap no matter if we make CL or not or even (if a miracle happens) win CL or not
Cannot blame fully to RedBird , they still not control full AC Milan because have debt to ellliot. Owner give budget 50m euro this season ,yes thats low but if you use it wise it would be great. Back to topic that 50m euro was wasted to buy CDK 35m euro , pay signing fee for origoat free transfer, loan fee for Dest & Aster prank, pay few signing for primavera team , pay 5m euro to buy thiaw. CdK from beginning good on club brugge in false nine but pioli not used false nine ,so why buy CDK after you buy adili 10m euro last season ? Origoat score 10 goal with liverpool total in 4 season and third choice in liverpool , why signing him ? Belgian duo are worst transfer this season. It is imposible to change ownership but AC Milan can change coach & DS at the end of season to refresh this bad season
Totally agree. And to make it worst, how in the world did they not sign Dybala? That is shocking to me because they could have signed Dybala for free then use the 35m spent on CDK to buy Amrabat from Fiorentina or Seko Fofana from Lens to replace Kessie. Renew Romagnoli for another year.
They also passed on signing Kolo Muani who was a free agent and he was highly recommended by our chief scout Moncada but for some bizarre reason they choose Origi? Madness!
I totally agree. We need a new director and possibly a new coach. Naigelsman is available and bring in Ralf Rangnick as Sporting Director.
If not do everything possible to get Giuntoli from Napoli as Sporting Director if we stick with Pioli.
That’s the point. With ownerships wage cap we couldn’t sign a player like Dybala (nor retain Kessie) – which we absolutely should have on a free – but we didn’t want to pay his wages 6M/season because of our wage cap. Kolo Muani signed for Frankfurt for higher wages and guaranteed starting position – something he could not get from us with Ibra and Giroud in that spot. CDK like any young player is a gamble and young players take time to develop – Leao, Tonali, etc…so I will not say he’s a failure just yet – but it doesn’t look good thus far. Same with the rest of the young players. M&M deserve some blame, Pioli too but Ownership has to decide what kind of club will become. Top 3 in Italy challenge for the Scudetto each season and guaranteed CL squad – OR – fighting to qualify for CL each season and risking missing out. Maldini said it in his last interview – we are not at CL level and require serious investment if we are going to compete with teams like Madrid and City. So ball is in Redbirds court. Step one is get that stadium built which keeps dragging on and on once again.
How naïve people are to think one transfer window will magically resolve all the issues. Top 4 or no top 4, little will change in one window. 3 players are needed for the starting XI alone, because Giroud is finished, and was always a stop-gap, and right wing is still a weakness, despite Saelemaekers improvements and Krunic is a useful player, but he’s not a starter in a championship winning team. 3 new players taking starting XI spots is the best case scenario and would still leave us with a crap bench and squad incapable of fighting in two competitions. This is a 2-3 year project. The owners aren’t going to, nor should, spend more than €80 million (with top 4) or €50 million. The way forward is to plug the gaps with the Primavera.
You need to have powerfully striker, or right winger, and much more creative attacking midfielder.
Milan can’t find that, even if have money. But Milan doesn’t have money.
So Pioli needs to adopt the team that have in new way.
Even the team doesn’t score a lot, this team continues to conciede a lot. Defence must be much more compacted, and than miracle will happen against small teams as well. In this season Milan can’t score against small team, but also gets punished to conciede from them.
