CM: Milan and Juventus battling for Spanish youngster

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan and Juventus are battling it out to sign Spanish youngster Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the young defender has seen his release clause drop from €40 million to €20 million after Valladolid were relegated from the top flight of Spanish football.

He is just 18 years old but he made an impressive 24 appearances during his breakout campaign in La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

He is now destined to move on as he has shown that he can hold his own at top-flight level and does not need to playing in the second division.

Milan and Juventus are both very interested in signing him so that they can have some more depth and a youthful talent in the right-back position. Given Milan are not struggling in that position, they may decide that the money is better spent elsewhere in the squad.

      1. Same. I think that was all due to the owners wanting to nickel and dime rbe salaries and using the growth decree which isn’t available for italians so their salaries are always more expensive due to that dumb rule

    1. To get italian as starter , we must sell our starter player from foreign , that will causing riot from fans. Buying italian and putting them on bench too expensive. We can try to fool atalanta offering swap deal CDK + few cash with scalvini .

  1. Very true, we are turning into Internazionale, shameful, why aren’t we looking at Scalvini, orsolini, parisi etc, I know the Italian Market is more expensive but we need some Italian blood to support and give the team some character, this is getting beyond depressing and not the team i have supported for 40 years !!

    1. Given Cardinale didn’t even know we played in Red and Black, I doubt he knows the history of Milan and Internazionale.

To him it’s just numbers in a spreadsheet, he’ll happily finish 8th with a bunch of journeymen if they’re all from different nations and their shirt sales lead to a profit on the balance sheet.

    2. I do think we need some more Italian blood here. For me I’d look at Chiesa with the Tonali money for RW. There’s still Zaniolo, Scamacca, Orsolini, Baldanzi, Parisi, etc. The last 3 being more affordable.

    3. As much as I’d prefer to have Milan with an Italian core, it simply isn’t feasible for a team who wants to compete in multiple tournaments and avoid FFP issues. Berardi for 30 million and Frattesi for 45 tells you everything about how overpriced and overrated these players have become. Milan cannot afford to overpay for someone right now, and with the lower quality of Italian players at the moment, it is no wonder that Milan seek out foreign players. Especially with the style of football which is required at AC Milan. Offensive and entertaining football, which is opposite of Inter who have a more defensive tradition with less uninspiring football – They can easily get away with playing a lot of Italians, where as Milan need players with more flair. That is cheaper outside of Italy

      1. I get the financial part of the post but offensive and entertaining football?? We are nowhere near this. We are about as stagnant as it gets in attack put aside a few great games last season. Not buying that part of the argument.

      2. I agreed with you brother. Italian players are overrated and overpriced. They cannot living up to expectations.

  2. I buy into the argument,we had tecord ticket sales last season,we went into matches confident we could call our shots on a good day against any team, unlike a few years back. Notes from modern football.

  3. I am really not interested to follow ac milan,
Being fan for over 40 years.
No more Italian players at all, all foreign players.
    Maldini would sign Baldazani
    Berardi

  4. Gentlemen Italian players are overpaid and not very good let’s go with Italian backup goaltenders right backs Gabbia and so on Frattesi is not worth 40 mil

  5. Pleas forget Berardi he scored 12 goals including 7 penaltys (+1 missed). Not so brilliant, big flop in national team and often injured.
