AC Milan have held initial discussions about the renewal of head coach Stefano Pioli’s contract, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com writes how Pioli secured Milan’s return to the Champions League after seven years of long waiting thanks to an excellent season and a vital 2-0 victory over Atalanta in Bergamo, and it could earn him even more trust from the management. The report adds that the Milan leadership are concretely evaluating the possibility of rewarding Pioli for the work he has done in the last year and a half.

Indeed, Milan want to lock Pioli down for the next few seasons and they had faith in him regardless of was last night’s result was, but now he is ready to reap the benefits of his work. The report claims that the parties are moving towards a new agreement until 2023 or 2024 and will talk again in a few weeks once the cases of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu have been resolved.
