CM: Milan’s attack stretched further after Okafor injury – the games he will miss

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s attacking department is once again left stretched very thin as Noah Okafor is the latest player to go down with a muscle problem.

As Calciomercato.com report, Okafor joins the long list of absences in the attack, which currently features Rafael Leao due to injury and Olivier Giroud due to suspension. Each will definitely miss Saturday’s game against Fiorentina.

The Swiss forward was injured with his national team and suffered a muscle problem in his right thigh. The first scans carried out after the match played by Switzerland against Romania revealed an injury to the hamstring of the right thigh.

The player will be re-evaluated with new tests in a week, but the recovery times for an issue of this type are usually around 10-14 days. He will certainly miss the match against Fiorentina and will certainly not be available to Pioli even in the fundamental match against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

If he were to miss two weeks, then he would skip the games against Fiorentina, Dortmund, Frosinone and possibly Atalanta too, with that game on December 9 and the Newcastle away UCL game on December 13.

  1. players injured this season: Maignan, Sportiello, Theo (x2), Pellegrino, Calabria (x3), Kjaer (x3), Kalulu (x2), Bartesaghi, Caldara, Loftus-Cheek, Krunic, Bennacer, Jovic (x2), Giroud, Pulisic (x2) Leao, Chukwueze, Okafor (x2).

    Total games missed: 118.

One would think they are injury prone, but they can’t all be injury prone, its something else isn’t it? Of course it is, its UEFA and FIFA plus butchers that Pioli has on staff that are mutilating our players.

  2. It doesn’t rain but it pours for Milan. All the more reason to have sufficient depth for situations like these. Players get injured for being overloaded and parallel to that for playing too little. What is happening at my beloved Milan. You need a crafty coach to handle all these challenges, so it’s up to Pioli and the bench to pull a rabbit out of a hat for us.

  3. The actual depth isn’t that bothersome. Yes, there is a slightly wide gap. But the coach has “trust management” problems with some players.
We are used to substitutions that raise eyebrows and force players to play out of position. And when there is a mistake, the player immediately becomes the object of criticism.
Not to mention the fact that the Milan coach is poor at tactics, and always plays the same tactics while hoping for a miracle to happen…
So, let hopes that Pioli dont put Lord Krunic for No. 9

    1. Haha the best part is if Pioli played Lord Krunic at 9, his loyal worshippers would say the same lines: “he knows the system” “he doesn’t make mistakes” “hes so solid” They’re both bums, hopefully the lovers get married and go to Turkey in January. The medical staff all need to be fired too this is ridiculous.

    2. Rather than put other players and create some excitements and a possibility to win…. Pioli prefers loosing but put Lord Krunic.

  4. This issue is not exclusive to Milan. Look at Madrid, Barcelona, heck even City losing big players. It speaks more to FIFA treating players as robots than about clubs medical departments. You guys try to play high intensity every 3 days non-stop and see what happens. Ppl here would play 30 min game and be sore for weeks and yet complain about these guys playing non stop for years.

    1. Yes, how many minutes Okafor played this year in total? Also, team is 25 players + youngsters, if same 11 play all the time, what are those other players there for?

  5. At this point all we Milan fans can do is just laugh through the tears. It’s all just a spectacle boys and girls. Enjoy the drama.
