CM: Milan retain pole position in Zirkzee race – player makes ‘surprise’ request

By Oliver Fisher -

Contrary to the reports of alternative targets and broken relationships, AC Milan have not yet given up on the idea of signing Joshua Zirkzee.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan have not yet abandoned their pursuit of Zirkzee, at least that is what filters from ‘sources very close to the’ club. This is despite the difficulties encountered in trying to find a meeting point on commissions with his Kia Joorabchian.

Joorabchian is asking for around €15m in signing bonuses in order to complete the operation but Milan will not reach double figures, i.e. they are not willing to part with €10m+ in addition to the €40m clause, which they are happy to trigger.

Milan are aware of Manchester United entering the race for Zirzkee and of the contacts between his agent and the Premier League club, yet they also know that they are the only club at the moment who have an agreement with the player.

Thus, the Rossoneri remain in pole position to land the Dutchman and yet without the last fundamental step on the commission front this advantage could prove to be in vain.

In the meantime, it could be a waiting game because Zirkzee has asked his entourage to stay away from any decision regarding his future until the end of the European Championship. Thus, we must wait even longer to find out who wins the race.

  1. And we must really wait and pray Milan will cover the positions they want for the new season because if we really wait for one player again then we are done again same mistake like always do

    1. Most of the striker we got linked to still play in tournament – Zirkzee, Lukaku, Mikhautadze at Euro, David and Gimenez at Copa America.

Deals with them will wait at least until their nation got eliminated.

If we want fast negotiation, the only one is Dovbyk with Ukraine already eliminated from Euro. But I think we will be able to strike deal in mid July.

      1. If like it is being reported in the Italian press Milan plan to bring in both Lakaku and Tammy

And if you also think they can bring in Fofana and Rabiot, then that is an extremely strong market, one that raise Milan’s level considerably.

For me, I like the concept of Zirkzee but the truth is Leao can do most of what Zirkzee can do and do it better and do a lot more, we need a goal scorer a centre point to play off and I would opine to the view that both Lakaku and Tammy are better at that then Zirkzee.

If they can secure both Lakaku & Tammy walk away from Zirkzee, it’s a non brainer

  2. Scamacca last season 19 goals and 8 assists. Costed 25mil, still quite young. But no, he was Italian. Good luck finding a better striker now.

    1. Scamacca works in Gasp’s system and had support strikers. That system also utilizes his movement off the ball. He won’t work in ours as a solo 9. Just look at him with the Azzurri…. Ineffective.

  3. Zirkzee wants to wait till end of Euro, like he would be a key player there, but so far played 0 minutes and that doesn’t seem to change for him xD

    1. Not Zirkzee. kia. Unfortunately for him Zee won’t seem to get any playing time so his stock won’t rise. And if Pellegatti is right and Kia kept raising the fee, then he won’t end up at Milan at all.

  4. Lets get moving!

Spinazzola is available for free (napoli negotiating) who would be perfect Theo backup

    Hojbjerg available for about 20m

Defense, I’m not convinced we need major signings.
    Hummels – Free
    Calafiori – 40m

    Dont need a RB

So then striker is the real issue but at least there are options like Zirkzee and Dobvyk for about 40m

So thats 60m without a CB or 100m with one
Minus the 40 -50 m we can generate in sales.

Yet the likes of Juventus and Inter who are in “trouble” are able to outspend us on wages a transfer fees

  5. I was worried we didn’t here anything about Zirkzee for about 30 minutes… I’m afraid at this point I might get annoyed by him even if he comes for free
