CM: Milan and Real Madrid keen on ‘El Diablito’ Echeverri who is earning Messi comparisons

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara hosted  River Plate president Jorge Pablo Brito at Casa Milan the other day, and it is likely that they spoke about one of the Argentine club’s top talents.

Calciomercato.com describes it as an ‘institutional lunch’ but adds that the parties ended up talking about Claudio Echeverri, who has been labelled ‘the real new Messi’. In addition to talks with Milan, there is strong interest in the boy from Real Madrid.

Florentino Perez has even drawn up a plan for Echeverri, which involves him spending another year on loan at River Plate until he comes becomes 18, then moving to Spain where he would play with Real Madrid Castilla, which is their youth teams.

Perez has had to chance because for now Echeverri has no intention of leaving his favourite team for the time being. He can play as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker, while he is proficient in scoring and creating for his team-mates.

Despite being physically small in stature, he carries the ball well and can hold off opponents, with the ball always attached to his foot. He has a release clause of €25m which River are aiming to double as soon as possible.

It was at the age of 11 he had his first trial with Los Millonarios and passed it. In that same year he left Argentina for the first time and arrived in Italy to play in the Venice Champions Trophy, a 7-a-side football tournament for the best clubs in the world.

Echeverri dominated and, despite his team finishing ‘only’ third, he takes all the headlines. He scored four goals in one game against Juve, with nine scored in total in the six games played. That is where the ‘El Diablito’ (Little Devil) nickname began.

Despite a vertebra fracture in 2022 – an injury that kept him on the sidelines for a few months – he took part in the South American Under 17 champions with his native Argentina a few weeks ago.

He scored five goals (including a spectacular one against Peru) and amassed three assists in eight games as a captain and with the No.10 shirt. Whether at Milan, Real Madrid or any other club, Echeverri’s future is bright.

  1. I give Advice to sign immidiately and leave him in his Team,
As to Convince River to sell him acmilan over R Madrid,Insert Percentage of Future Resale.
At any Cost let us beat others.
It is Clear that he be overpriced Earling Haaland,Messi,Ronaldo.
And Two year later acmilan will have F Camarda along with this Fantastic Rear Player.
The Next 15 years wull be acmilan’s Era.

  2. Too small. Forget it. For 20 years they hyped dozens of Argentine midgets before Messi came along, this is probably more of the same. We have talented teenagers in the Primavera. We don’t have the finances for projects like this guy.

  3. As the article explains river plate want to put a higher buyout caluse in his contract that currently is 25 mil so it seems like the only option to aquirre him is to pay the full release clause. The player wont be able to join us before january where he will turn 18 and as the article also hints at the player wants to stay there for the time being so if we where to buy him he propably wouldnt join us before next summer and maybe first in 1.5 years time. That makes this operation extremely problematic considering our lack of funds and the fact that we are in an urgent need to upgrade the squad now,
Sounds like a great talent and sure why not if we had a 120 mil transfer kit available which we unfortunately wont come close to.

    1. Pay 25m euro and use him 2 years later. Too bad we need ready player now, too many player will leave next summer ( end of contract & end of loan ) about 7 player confirmed. Many position need to be upgrade . In my prediction will be need more than 3 season transfer market to fix this squad

      1. Reccaman think you are misreading what i said because i I made it pretty clear that we isnt in a financial postion to do such a thing and thereby indicated that i wouldnt get him as we surely wont have 120 mil to spend and even at 100 mil i wouldnt spend a quarter of our transfer kit for a future player as we need the upgrades now.

  4. I cannot count how many player already called the next messi. It is just a burden in young player shoulder. Many of them failed because too high expectation. 25m euro small amount for EPL Club & Real Madrid but expensive for italian club. Better skip because we cannot compete with Real Madrid in term of financial & prestige

    1. You are correct on most of what you just wrote but the last bit regarding competing with RM in terms of financial and prestige? I give them financial part but we sure as hell can compete with them when it comes to prestige. Remember who we are!
