CM: Milan reflect after being offered ‘publicly dumped’ Chiesa – the factors at play

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are the latest team to be linked with a potential move for Juventus outcast Federico Chiesa, but the management have various things to reflect on.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Chiesa has been ‘publicly dumped’ by Juve who have officially put him on the market, leaving him out of the squad for preseason games and even removing his shirt from sale in the club shop.

Chiesa is looking for a club before August 30, the date on which the summer transfer window will end, but said club must be willing to satisfy the €20m asking price that the Bianconeri have set. The forward wants a pay rise from his next club, which means going from €5m to €6m net per year.

The Italian is in no rush to leave Turin, knowing that in the worst case scenario he could then be available on a free transfer in June 2025 or for an even lower sum in the winter transfer window. His agent Fali Ramadani is talking to many clubs like Napoli, Lazio and Inter as well as some abroad.

The report confirms the news from La Gazzetta dello Sport who claim that Chiesa has also been offered to Milan, given they have moved Christian Pulisic to attacking midfielder and could sign another winger.

There will be budgetary assessments from Geoffrey Moncada and co. but also reflections on the player’s age (26), his injury history, his role (Milan have other and more pressing needs) and his contractual situation.

Milan, like other clubs, are wondering whether it is really worth investing in a player who in a few months will be available on a free.

    1. And spends more time injured.

At one point I found the idea interesting, but not at 5 to 6 million euros. He won’t even start.

    2. World class? I would’ve signed him for Milan, given he is one of the few good Italian talents, but saying he is world class is too much to say.

      1. Given he’s actually one of the few human beings on the planet, and one of only 23 Italians, to have won the Euros…..calling him ‘world class’ isn’t exactly the most hyperbolic of things.

    3. Exactly, hence why Juventus are doing everything they can to renew him and why clubs are lining up around the block to take him given price….oh wait….🙄🙄🙄

  1. Absolutely zero need of a player like Chiesa.
Winger is probably the only position where Milan is covered.
Unless Juventus wants a straight swap for Saelemaekers and Chiesa agrees to cut his salary in half. At that point Milan should pick him up to back up Leao and Okafor on the left, or Pulisic and Chukwueze on the right.
Basically if he wants Saelemaekers role, and Saelemaekers pay, bring him in.

  2. Chiesa shouldn’t be asking for more, should actually be getting no more than 4m. He is injured half the season after all. If we could get him on low wages and at a low cost then no doubt. Maybe even a swap plus money with saelemaekers??

    1. Yea 4mil is where he is now. If he gets his old form back he might be even 7mil but at the moment he can’t ask for sallary rise.

  3. World class? I would’ve signed him for Milan, given he is one of the few good Italian talents, but saying he is world class is too much to say.

  4. offer him 4 (as far as i know, thats what Chuk gets) to not get into trouble with the wage balance within the team and see how he decides if no other offers arrive.

  5. He rejected Milan to join Juve. Why would Milan be interested? Hope Fofana makes the right choice an not end up knocking on a door he closed.

  6. Oh great another Azzurri player being mismanaged.

I guess we can give up on the next few World Cups as well.

  7. Would be a good addition if he doesn’t cost much. If Pulisic is moved to the centre, that leaves only Chukwueze on the right flank. If they can swap him with Saelemaekers, that would be a great deal, even if we have to add a little extra. I don’t see any consistency in Saelemaekers. If Motta still wants him, then, stick him in the deal; Chiesa offers more.
