CM: Milan still interested in Barcelona youngster; January loan move possible

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are still monitoring the situation surrounding Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena, according to the latest reports.

The Rossoneri are expected to be active in the January transfer window after a start to the season which has seen them amass just 13 points in their opening 12 games, scoring 11 goals in the process.

One area they may look to reinforce is the midfield, with strong links to Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic who is seemingly surplus to requirements under Ernesto Valverde.

However, Rakitic’s team-mate Carles Alena also continues to be linked, and Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo recently claimed that Milan and Spurs are the frontrunners for his signature, but that only a loan deal will be considered.

As per a fresh report on Calciomercato.com, Milan ‘remain vigilant’ regarding Alena, who could leave the club on loan to gain more experience.

The 21-year-old has made just two competitive appearances this season under Ernesto Valverde, and came through the famous La Masia youth system.
