CM: Milan strike up a plan involving Betis regarding €32m-rated Barcelona defender

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have hatched a plan to sign full-back Emerson Royal from Barcelona, a report claims, and it involves letting one of their own defenders leave.

Davide Calabria and Andrea Conti have struggled for consistency all season leading to suggestions from a number of different media outlets that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will look to address the issue by signing a new starter.

It has been reported by TMW that Milan have already met the entourage of Emerson Royal to sound out the possibility of a summer move for the Brazilian, who is on loan at Real Betis from Barcelona until 2021.

According to Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo on Twitter, Milan have hatched a plan to land the 21-year-old. The Rossoneri management wish to send Davide Calabria to Real Betis in order to lower the amount they’d have to spend on Emerson.

There are evaluations in progress, but Maldini is hoping for a discount on the asking price of €32m that Barca have set, as they would owe Betis both a loan cancellation fee and a sell-on fee.

Calabria, meanwhile, could end up at Betis regardless having recently changed to a Spanish agency.
