CM: Left-back, centre-back, midfielder and striker – Milan’s summer business not done

AC Milan have been among the most active Serie A sides in the summer transfer window, but they are looking for more additions to complete the window.

According to Calciomercato.com, four more additions could yet arrive after Samuel Chukwueze, who should join from Villarreal at the start of next week providing the final details are sorted between the clubs.

The priority is to sign a new deputy left-back to replace the outgoing Fode Ballo-Toure and Riccardo Calafiori is the main target. He played 32 league games for FC Basel last season, having been part of Roma’s academy.

Then, they are aiming to complete the midfield with the signing of a player like Yunus Musah. If it is not the Valencia youngster, then it will be a player with similar characteristics to him.

Then, with Matteo Gabbia heading out on loan to Villarreal, Facundo Gonzalez could arrive to flesh out the centre-back position. He plays for Valencia B but recently shone with Uruguay U20s in the World Cup win.

The final icing on the cake would be a young and more physical centre- forward with potential and qualities closer to those of Oliver Giroud compared to Noah Okafor.

  1. I knew a striker was still very possible. I just wonder who they have in mind. Okafor is more a winger. He’s played 3/4ths of his games as winger to great effect.

    I just wonder who…

    1. Midfielder should be domi for more defensive attributes, and striker will be surprising, but definitely not lukaka as management want young striker in the team.

      1. I don’t think we’re going to go for someone that young. This management obviously tries to aim for a little more experience. Maybe some 22-26 years old. Just don’t know who.

    1. Okafor can play across the entire attack and will potentially replace Rebic and/or Origi in their winger roles as well.

      1. We already have overabundance of Wingers. If we play 4-3-3, it means Pulisic replace Rebic as LW. Chuk and Romero will be the RW. So Okafor will be mainly FW.

        1. “I’m fast and capable in one-on-one situations. I’m flexible, I can play as a first striker or in a two-man attack, I want to take advantage of my speed,” Okafor said.

Based on his interview, he is signed primarily for FW. Other positions such as LW and RW are bonuses.

    2. Okafor are rebic replacement . Play on same position LW & CF . They want to find origi replacement, colombo are ibra replacement ( retire). Also if gabbia go on loan and ballo out then they will need CB & LB too

      1. 3 left, 3 arrived:

        Ibra 》 Colombo
        Origi 》 Okafor
        Rebic 》 Pulisic

As Milan want to play 4-3-3, it means Pulisic will be played as Winger. Chuk will be the main RW. Both Pulisic and Romero can cover RW and LW (not counting Saelemaekers, Messias, and CdK). So it is not necessary to sign Okafor as LW. The gap we have is FW because there is only Giroud and Colombo, this is where Okafor come in. His versatility to play as LW is a bonus.

  2. All depends on Colombo’s performance tomorrow. If he performs well, I don’t think we will go for another striker.

    1. Nope. Even if Colombo scored a hattrick in every friendly, Milan is still going to loan him out and eventually sell him. Why? That’s what they do.

        1. That didn’t bother them last season and I doubt this is no different. They don’t even bother to try to get the max squad.

  3. I am really hoping Milan can get Musah to complete the midfield, but even if they don’t they have greatly improved the team, so well done Cardinale. I’m also wishing that maybe Ibra can come back for one more season and be healthy.

    1. Well done Cardinale? Hell no, if Tonali wasn’t sold there wouldn’t be so much activities in the market, and the next to be sold will be Leao.

  4. Retegui is crying out…

As much as I like Okafor, let’s not be naive, a successful Okafor opens the door for them to sell Leao next summer…

      1. Odd though given he’s the Starting CF for the Azzurri.

As we aren’t in the market for players like Openda let alone Mbappe and Haaland, you’d think he’d be a punt worth taking and our remit is ‘young, cheap striker’

    1. What exactly has Retegui done. He scored once for the national team? Is that what we’re going by now? Dude isn’t all that or else big clubs would be after him

  5. The question is how much money is left for further acquisitions!? If you asked me, I would try to continue playing with the 4-2-3-1 formation! Pulisic instead of Diaz, Chuk instead of Saelemakaers.
