CM: Milan hold talks with intermediary over Valencia midfielder – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are probing various ideas to keep their options open in the summer transfer window and that applies to the midfield, where Javi Guerra’s name has been mentioned as a target.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan have not given up on Yossouf Fofana who was identified by Geoffrey Moncada as the ideal reinforcement for the midfield. Contacts with the Frenchman’s agent are constant with the hope of quickly reducing the gap with Monaco, who want €25m.

However, the Rossoneri management also have the duty to look around to find alternative solutions are so they are not caught unprepared. Javi Guerra is the latest name to emerge, and he is a versatile player who can play as a mezzala or in the double pivot in front of the defence.

Milan appreciate his quality and his reading of the game a lot, and the report adds that they have had ‘exploratory contacts’ with his Italian intermediary in recent days. However, time is not on Milan’s side.

Moncada would like to step in only if the arrival of the main target Fofana were to be ruled out, while Real Sociedad are pressing to sign Guerra and are getting close to the €20m that is being requested, with Girona also in the running.

  1. If Girona are after him then there is something good in him. But it would be better if we just try to get Tonali back in an exchange for Thiaw.

  2. This one is interesting – he has clear talent and quality but he is not a true DM either. And he is not as physical as Fofana.

But again, I think this is just pure media speculation.

  3. Guerra has insane potential. His height combined with skill and vision, I see a player who would easily boss every Serie A midfield similarly to Savic. I’d take him over Fofana in a heartbeat, because otherwise Guerra will surely end up at Barca soon enough…

    1. He looks good but let’s wait for Flyingturtle, if he doesn’t like him it’s not happening, it just would not be the right call for the club. It’s just how it is.

        1. Have you ever read the crap Flyingturtle comments on here?? He’s the only one who’s always right, he’s also the only who’s entitled to have opinions on players, he knows all the players, every player, he watches every game of every team that has ever existed and therefore is the only person authorized to have any opinion about Milan. He’s more milanista than Maldini and certainly most Milanista than anyone in the history of ever

      1. Yeah it would be a gamble for sure. But these days you also have to invest if there is a great talent available. Guerra can play every midfield position. If we sell Adli, Pobega and potentially Bennacer, then we do need an extra midfielder after Fofana anyways. If there is a good deal to be had with Valencia, then I think Milan should take it. Barcelona wants him and they know how to scout good midfielders

  4. New club policy: we can’t sign this player or any player unless Flyingturtle approves of it on this site first. Also none of you are entitled to have an opinion or to prefer different players for the team you watch more often than Flyingturtle does, shame on you. Only Flyingturtle knows everything.

  5. Turtles don’t fly. Only pigs do. Lol

Anyways, Guerra would be a fantastic signing if we can’t get Fofana. Even better than Kone too. Let’s see. His contract runs to 2027, so won’t be easy as he renewed not too long ago
