AC Milan have got Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic on their centre-back wish list, according to a report.
As Calciomercato.com notes, the defensive department will be affected by the impending revolution at Milan this summer, with at least four new players expected to arrive.
A deputy to Theo Hernandez, a right-back (Dumfries is the first choice) and two central defenders are what the Rossoneri want, with the centre-backs intended to replace Mateo Musacchio and Matteo Gabbia (who may leave on loan).
Milenkovic is the first choice as he is young, versatile and has a low salary of around €800k-a-year, but the problem is represented by the price tag that Fiorentina have put on the 22-year-old, which is close to €40million. During the week Milan will meet agent Fali Ramadani to understand more.
Ajer meanwhile is valued at €20m, and he has convinced scouts with his strong physical and technical structure, but Leicester are also pushing hard to sign him and may be able to offer Champions League football.
Milan under the direction of Hendrik Almstadt are not giving up, but the search to find captain Alessio Romagnoli a new partner is well and truly on.
