CM: Milan tell Newcastle the price for Tonali after rejecting bid as player’s stance emerges

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have refused the first offer made by Newcastle United for Sandro Tonali and have made their demands clear, a report claims.

According to what Calciomercato.com are reporting, the Premier League side actually presented their bid for Tonali last week and it was around €55-60m including bonuses, but Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani have rejected it.

At the moment Milan’s request is at least €80m, while Tonali is currently not open to the idea of a move to the Magpies but a lot will depend on the contract offer they put forward, because the potential to double your salary would make any player reflect.

Milan bought Tonali permanently in the summer of 2021 having paid €7m plus €3m in bonuses in addition to the loan fee and young playmaker Giacomo Olzer as a counterpart valued at €3m.

Tonali reduced his salary to €1.2m net per season to help the operation go through, showing his love for his boyhood club, but he then signed a renewal last September which saw it go back up to €2.5m/yr.

  1. To a no surprise Milan rejected the offer and set high enough demands that would scare potential interested clubs from making another offer.
That’s 0 for 2 for Newcastle trying to sign Barella and Tonali

      1. it does.. They also have to deal with ffp in the end. Mind you they already blown 170M€ last summer and they dont have the income to do that again this summer. And 130M€ the summer before

      2. Highest transfer in Newcastle history is Alexander Isac last summer for 70 mil. They already got scared off by Inter demands for Barella.
If their offer of 55-60 mil with bonuses was rejected they aren’t going to go up to 80 mil for Tonali. That’s a big gap

        1. Yeah sure, they are offering 60M for one player because they have a budget of 87M. Do you work there or you read a stupid report?

  2. What the hell management do with Milan? Are they gonna sell all key players? Tonali is one of most prominent player in the team (haters are gonna say he’s overrated) and and everyone knows he’s true Milanista.

    1. OK, but do we want to risk losing him for free in a few years when he wants to double his salary? If his head is turned (understandably) by their crazy money, do we force him to stay?

There’s no sign of management doing anything wrong here.

      1. This is the same Tonali that took a paycut to stay with Milan. I doubt he’s gonna demand to have his wages doubled.

  3. ” to double your salary would make any player reflect.”

Stereotyping and assumptions. Tonali already lowered his salary to stay so we definitely know money isn’t everything to the kid.

    1. Actually take 400k cut to the wage and getting 2-3x the wages is really different.

He was taking pay cut from 1.6m to 1.2m.

Now offered 8m+2m in bonus (pre tax), so about 5-6m total.

One is 400k cut and one is 4m increase

  4. Shouldn’t our response be he’s “unsellable”????🤔🤔🤔🤔 – like we did with Theo (allegedly) ….interesting. We shall see

Eventually RedBird will sell him and Leao, Theo, Mike, etc…it’s inevitable – we cannot afford them and they will want to make some nice PROFIT. That’s the model

    1. I’m inclined to believe this to be the case also. I think one big gun is going this summer and it’s either Mike or based on recent reports Tonali. But I do see Tonali staying on because of the love for the club….but man making what you’d make in almost ur entire contract in one a d a half years has GOT to be tempting

    2. If they want to sell all that players, with all the complicated, why this Redbird dont sell Milan to Syeikh Tamim al Thani in Qatar for €1,4 bil..?? Its more simple for them. They can paid their debt to Elliot…and still have money…

    3. See now if RedBird sell him, I’ll be the first one to criticize them and anyone associated with them. Sandro is hopefully the captain next season. Davide needs to take a break.

      FORZA SANDRO!

  5. “Milan bought Tonali permanently in the summer of 2021 having paid €7m plus €3m in bonuses in addition to the loan fee and young playmaker Giacomo Olzer as a counterpart valued at €3m” we tend to forget how good a deal this was..I was also very upset when M&M haggled for the discount 🤦‍♂️oof. You could have seen Tonali’s potential already in the first year

  6. If milan have no money just sell one of his big player to invest at least 2-3 players. Thats business. Remember how nesta sacrifice for his team lazio and sold to milan ? He save his first love club from bankcruptcy.

  7. Sell now while there are still some teams that believe the hype around Tonali. Then we can get a real quality midfielder. Maybe get Kessie back.

    1. Kessie? He has been playing football for over 10 years and he still can’t pass. Dude is an antitalent, he can only push people around. That is it, not a real footballer, as proven in Barcelona. Busquets played injured just so Kessie doesn’t have to start. What are you blind? 😀

      1. Tonali wouldn’t even make the bench at Barcelona. And you think Tonali has great passing skills??? Tonali is not a great passer, not a great dribbler or shooter, doesn’t track back well or man mark. His best strength is his physicality and even there he is second best to Kessie. There is a reason teams completely bossed our midfield this season.
