CM: Milan want renewal for star but big wage rise needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan would like to renew the deal for star winger Suso however it will likely come at a cost, a report claims.

The Spaniard has been the Rossoneri’s main creative force in recent years, having amassed 20 goals and 26 assists over the last three seasons in Serie A alone.

There was however intense speculation about Suso’s future at the club over the summer, with doubts over whether he could adapt to new head coach Marco Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 system as a trequartista.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Fiorentina were interested in a move for Suso, while Roma and Lyon were also linked by multiple outlets throughout August.

Despite this, the 25-year-old remained and looks set to play another key part for the Diavolo this season.

His current contract expires in 2022 so has three years still to run, but Calciomercato.com claim that his renewal is still an issue that will be dealt with.

Suso currently has a €38million release clause which – given the interest gathered in the summer – the club could look to remove.

In addition, the report adds that the former Liverpool man would like to raise his annual salary to €5million per season, which would represent a substantial rise from his current €3.5m-a-year deal.
