CM: Milan’s quandary deepens as former club drop out of race for €35m midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

A potential suitor has dropped out of the race to sign Lucas Paqueta this summer due to AC Milan’s demands, according to a report.

Paqueta’s struggled in recent months have been well documented as the 22-year-old has found game time hard to come by, with plenty of rumours circulating about a possible exit.

An exchange deal with Juventus involving Federico Bernardeschi was discussed in January, while Fiorentina and Benfica have been credited with interest in recent weeks, plus the idea of a sensational return to Flamengo has also been mentioned.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Paquetá’s future continues to hang in the balance 15 months after the club forked out €35m to sign him from Brazil.

However, there will be no return to his homeland for the 22-year-old, at least not to his former club. Milan wants to make money from his sale if he is to leave and Flamengo, who were interested, cannot spend the €30million that is being demanded.
