CM: OGC Nice serious about signing Milan full-back on a permanent deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Bologna face serious competition in their bid to land Fode Ballo-Toure as OGC Nice in France are keen on signing him, according to a report.

According to Calciomercato.com, Ballo-Toure was first approached by Bologna but he is now in the sights of Nice who are very keen on signing him.

The Rossoblu have not yet presented an official offer but want to sign the former Monaco on loan with an option to buy, while the Ligue 1 side are aiming for a permanent deal.

Milan are therefore waiting for an offer, after the contacts between the player’s agent and Nice, hoping to net around €4m which would actually generate a capital gain in the accounts.

In terms of his replacement, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada will not go for Luca Pellegrini after yesterday’s meeting with his entourage, nor to Andrea Cambiaso because Juventus want €25m for him.

However, it is likely that the management will focus on an Italian profile, also because of the issue linked to the Champions League squad lists.

  1. I can’t believe Furlani and co are too oblivious to see Elye Wahi as a perfect striker option man. This guy is exactly what is needed from a modern ST, he’s acrobatic, tall, fast, very technical and has a shot on him. To add to that Montpellier are requesting 30M which should be extremely doable and considering he’s french he would not rule out a non EU signing like Chukwueze. At 20 years of age, Elye Wahi represents a golden opportunity

    1. Yeah 19 goals and 6 assists in 33 games at 20 yo, with 4 goals against Lyon in the same game! Chelsea is reportedly very high on him. Maybe they will buy him with the money we gave them haha

      1. It would be a shame for a talent to go to a club like Chelsea. No disrespect to Chelsea but wahi needs to be more of a starter and not in a horrendous environment with high pressure

  2. Ok, Moussa Diaby was my choice for RW, but realistically we can’t afford him.
Also, wanted Mason Greenwood on loan for RW, but we ain’t looking in that direction.

But, Elye Wahi as CF who can play RW for 30m is definitely a no brainer. We definitely need to look at this guy, represents a different profile from Giroud.

And please, somebody tell these guys, Balo Toure has been a decent backup, and as such Theo’s backup isn’t a priority right now.

We need to channel our attention more in MF, RW and CF departments, after that we can talk about Theo’s backup.

    1. Different profile than Giroud is not necessarily a good thing, it is not a complete accident that Giroud and Ibra have worked best so far under Pioli. Tall, physical target man seems to be the profile we roughly need.

        1. What you „explained“ sounds too lightweight, Leao is also tall and fast, doesn‘t make him a good targetman.

          1. he’s no Lukaku you’re right but that’s something that can change he can always build more muscle, I mean he’s 20

    2. I think the main point of LB back up replacement is because they want, and we indeed need, someone italian for quota.

Because being Theos back up, potentially will be playing little, so no need to spend a big money there and there’s some relatively cheap option like Gallo, Augello, Pellegrini, or Mazzochi. And Balo Toure still 26 so he still have some resale value to generate capital gain – and actually a decent player for mid table teams so he will have suitors.

  3. Fode did the trick…cheap, didn’t complain and not disastrous. But he didnt click with Leao when Theo was out.

    1. Overall imo was alright, only time he wasn’t good was when he played in the UCL which TBF unless Theo is injured or suspended which both are relatively rare he would never on a normal basis play in the UCL, and that’s besides the fact it was 1 match so harsh to criticise so imo should by no means by a priority just like a singo deal shouldn’t be a priority unless Torino really want a swap for Messias

  4. Balo is not the best LB but one thing that i like about him is that he always gave 100%. Never lazy, never stops running.

  5. This article didn’t even mention that he’s French which makes Nice a natural landing spot for him. It’s sports writing 101. Disappointing.
