CM: Origi still training alone – Milan’s move to help him find a new club

By Oliver Fisher -

Divock Origi is expected to leave AC Milan before the end of the summer transfer window but he will not terminate his contract early, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com brand Origi as the ‘biggest transfer flop in recent years at Milan’ having scored just two goals in his first season with Milan and then zero in the Premier League last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

He has spent the summer training alone without even the faint sign of an offer from any big European clubs. It is a situation that is leading Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani to make a decision that could help him leave, namely a free transfer.

Milan have communicated to Origi’s agents that he can leave without a fee, something that is not to be confused with a contract termination which would require the club to pay some up front. The directors simply want to get rid of his €4.5m net per season contract, to save a lot on gross wages.

This is why the choice has been made by the club to sell him without any financial compensation. The Belgian and his agents are now exploring three markets in particular: Qatar, Saudi Arabia and MLS. Milan are crossing their fingers and hoping he will be packing his suitcase soon.

  1. As long as there is no salary offer 4,5m euro nett from other club then he wont leave permanent, most likely he only want go on loan to get his full salary . From beginning giving him 4,5m euro nett already crazy idea , even liverpool dont want give him 2m euro nett . He get 4,5m euro nett in ACM just for 2 goal , each goal cost ACM 2m euro

  2. This is maybe Milan culture for many years we see, even won’t be at the first team they responsible to help the player to find new club. Different like juve for chiesa, he has been abandoned. Sadly..
