Benjamin Pavard ended up making a move to Inter late in the summer window and will hope to get one over on AC Milan tomorrow, but things could have been a lot different.
Calciomercato.com write that Theo Hernandez and Pavard will be enemies for one night only. Tomorrow the left-back will challenge his friend and compatriot Pavard in the first of several derbies the pair will contest in Italy.
There is an interesting background from the summer though. Pavard did in fact ask his friend Theo for information on Milan as a club a few months ago when the then-director Paolo Maldini was considering the possibility of making an offer to Bayern Munich.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pavard spoke about his temptation to try a new project and left the door very much open to a potential move to Italy, stating he would like to play alongside Giroud.
It is an idea that did not materialise due to Maldini’s dismissal by Gerry Cardinale, but Pavard had decided that he would like to move to Milano and thus accepted the idea of joining Inter when their interest became concrete.
