CM: Porto star keen on Italy move – what filters regarding Inter and Milan’s interest

By Oliver Fisher -

Mehdi Taremi’s future remains to be written, and he continues to be linked with a move to Italy after he seemed one step away from joining AC Milan in the summer.

The Iranian striker has not yet renewed his expiring contract with Porto and Calciomercato.com report that he is unlikely to do so in the coming weeks. At 31 years old he has decided now is the right time (and possibly the last time) to make the switch to a more competitive league than the Portuguese one.

There is certainly no shortage of proposals, especially from Serie A. Inter have reopened the Taremi file with conviction after last summer’s enquiries. Piero Ausilio has reconnected with the entourage of the Iranian striker, noting a real interest on the part of the player in the Nerazzurri project.

However, they are working on the negotiation for next summer because Inter wants to secure yet another top coup on a free transfer after Marcus Thuram arrived in the most recent window.

What about Milan? At the moment they have slipped away in the race for the veteran, most likely because the management did not like how things went in last summer’s negotiations. Even if Porto’s president presented an interesting version of events last week.
