CM: Raiola makes promise to Milan over Donnarumma’s future as PSG and Chelsea circle

By Oliver Fisher -

The situation surrounding Gianluigi Donnarumma and a possible renewal remains to be solved, a report claims, but one hypothesis is now the favourite.

According to Calciomercato.com, agent Mino Raiola will discuss the future of his client in the coming weeks while Donnarumma himself will return to playing and trying to earn Milan a spot in Europe for next season.

A meeting with CEO Ivan Gazidis is not yet on the agenda, but the parties have been studying the situation and its nuances for weeks.

Raiola will not start the negotiations with the idea of taking Donnarumma to another club, but he wants more guarantees starting from the club’s plans to try and return to a competitive level.

There is no shortage of clubs courting the 21-year-old with PSG and Chelsea mentioned in the report, but banking on a transfer to another club in the next market window is a risk. Gigio is linked to Milan by a deep love, and there is an agreement already with Raiola: the keeper will not leave on a free transfer under any circumstances.

This is why at the moment the hypothesis that seems most realistic is a renewal of his contract at figures similar to the current ones (Donnarumma earns about €6million net per season at the moment), with the insertion of a release clause.

Gazidis must keep an eye on the accounts, but he knows how important Donnarumma is for the objectives set and for the image of a club that is looking for a recovery also from a commercial point of view.
