CM: Rebic gearing up for the derby months after being close to €40m Inter move

By Oliver Fisher -

With Ante Rebic set to experience his first derby as an AC Milan player, it is easy to forget that he was close to joining the other half of the city.

The Croatia international completed a deadline day two-year loan move to the Rossoneri back in the summer, with striker Andre Silva going the other way as part of the deal.

As Calciomercato.com report, Rebic was also in the sights of the Nerazzurri before they bought Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez for the attack, as he he was an alternative to Edin Dzeko. In fact, there were even rumours of a €40million deal for the winger.

However now, six months down the line, Rebic is preparing to line up in the Milan shirt for Sunday’s showpiece game at San Siro. Although likely to start on the bench due to the presence of Rafael Leao and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the 26-year-old will be hoping to make a big impact off the bench just as he has in recent weeks.

There is also the possibility of seeing him on the left instead of Hakan Calhanoglu and Giacomo Bonaventura, but again this is far more likely to be as a substitute.
