CM: Romagnoli’s future to be resolved – the player’s will, Raiola’s idea and Pioli’s key decision

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessio Romagnoli could remain at AC Milan even if he does not agree to renew his contract before the start of the season, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Romagnoli’s future at Milan is still to be decided given his contract is expiring in a year which forces Maldini and Massara to try and resolve the issue, but at the moment there are other priorities such as Franck Kessie.

There has been little movement regarding Romagnoli’s contract with no offers and no concrete proposals. Although Romagnoli has lost his starting spot and could lose the captain’s armband too, the former Roma defender is currently not anxious to leave and wants to stay at Milan.

He wants to try and take back his starting spot and show he can still make an important contribution to the cause and this is a position shared also by his agent Mino Raiola, who cannot collect a rich commission without offers. In his mind is taking the 26-year-old to a big club, just as he did with Donnarumma, but the scenario, however, could change in the coming weeks.

If Pioli were to consider him still a reserve, Romagnoli may be forced to reflect and the player could force his hand somewhat.

  1. This isn’t complicated. If he does NOT sign this summer then we must Sell him. If he does not sign we cannot keep him period. Of course Raiola wants us to give him chance so he can win the starters position back – then when he does his leverage increases and he will ask for his 6M plus a season (which we aren’t going to pay anyways) and Raiola will have the leverage to ask for big commission from other teams and take him elsewhere for free next summer and we will be left without yet ANOTHER transfer fee??? We will not get the benefit of his improved play as his contract will expire. Sell if he doesn’t sign this summer period.

  2. If ELIOT and Gazditis want to save players who are expensive they must also pay those players for their effort and work. We lost Donnarumma Colhanoglu next are Kesie and Romagnoli …. and so then Milan can play freely in Seir B because no player wants to come to a team that will not pay a normal salary to a player
