CM: Saelemaekers makes intentions clear as interest arrives from Germany

By Oliver Fisher -

Alexis Saelemaekers has attracted the interest of some clubs this summer but he never considered leaving AC Milan, a report claims.

Saelemaekers has struggled for form over the past few months and has been forced to settle for a rotation role with Junior Messias on the right side of the 4-2-3-1 that Stefano Pioli likes to field, having been a guaranteed starter before the arrival of the Brazilian.

Calciomercato.com report that Saelemaekers wants to regain centrality in the project at Milan and that is why he never considered the idea of leaving the club in the current mercato.

This summer some enquiries arrived from German clubs but for the Belgian he sees no other future than one with the Rossoneri. Now, it will be up to the former Anderlecht man to prove that he deserves a spot in the first choice starting line-up with some better performances on the field.

      1. That’s a pure lie, better dribbler than Messiah jr. Skilful than #30, but his shooting is the problem, I saw improvement on that, hope you know… He has been a better player than Messiah jr this season.

    1. Well actually all those attributes CAN be trained. The question is does he have the will power to improve. So far I’ve seen zero progress. One could even argue that he was better 1-2 years ago but let’s see…

  1. Don’t get the hate for saleamakers. It’s armchair clowns like you who don’t help. All I see is a young kid, who is talented and gives his all every time he plays, who always draws defenders away and creates problems. He’ll make mistakes but his contributions have scored us points before. What did you expect him to be by this point in his career given that no one even knew who he was before Milan. He’ll come good. Stop being sheep and jumping on the “he’s no good” bandwagon because to be fair, in Piolis system, at his salary. He is bloody good.

    1. 100% agree with you here, too many people are happy to hate on him just because it’s the cool thing to do, the kid is young, clearly skillfull and does the dirty job in the team on the right side, he does need to step up this season ofc but he should be getting our support not hate.

  2. Salaemakers is talented and has a high potential.

The question is : will he be able to exploit it one day? I have no answer to this question.

  3. He isn’t “bloody” good and nowhere even close to the level of RW that we need. He’s a good rotation player and a good substitute. This “gives it all” emotion won’t matter in the football field when you have scored on average fkin 2 goals in 30 matches and assisted 2 every season. I would take a player who doesn’t give it all still scores 8/10 goals every season. Last season his contribution was one goal against Salerno when we were already 1-0 up.

    1. “I would take a player who doesn’t give it all still scores 8/10 goals every season”

But when we were linked with Dybala y’all called him lazy. Now he at Roma.

      #Belotti – free
      #Dybala – free
      #Ziyech – loan
      #Enzo – €10mil plus €8mil add ons

      This isn’t magic pips

  4. He isn’t “bloody” good and nowhere even close to the level of RW that we need. He’s a good rotation player and a good substitute. I would take a player who doesn’t give it all still scores 8/10 goals every season. Last season his contribution was one goal against Salerno when we were already 1-0 up. And honestly if Pioli was so happy with him he wouldn’t prefer to start a paraplegic like Messias ahead of him and wouldn’t ask for Berardi each season. I don’t get the attitude of people like you. If something is wrong people will point it out. And he doesn’t do one thing out of ordinary which some good RW won’t do. He does one good trick and passes the ball to the opposition.
Yes he does get some hate and some of it is not but mostly is justified when your average goal tally even after 3 seasons under the same manager is 2. He’s a good rotation player at best. Even if he improved one goal every season I’d say that yes he’d improve. But 1 goal in one season. You can’t deny that.

    1. It feels like this dude joined Milan like you playing 6v6 with your friends and need 1 player to fill up the team of course he’s going to get hated he doesn’t belong here he is about to end like Casti who in my opinion is way better right wing was Sale will ever be that says enough about salemakers

      1. Saelemakers is one of those guys who thrashes everybody like he’s Messi in training, then goes to the actual match and does sweet FA.

  5. Why the hell would he leave for a mid table Bundesliga team while he’s playing for Milan.
I would have let hem go or give both of our right wings for a decent one, stop protecting him he hasn’t proven anything to Milan, I enjoyed Dalot playing as a right wing who is naturally a full back more than this dude he can’t cross he can’t score and his dribling is beloved avarage just remember the rebound he got against inter ffs he was like 7-8 from the goal and still shot in on Handanovic hands

  6. My question is, so Milan signed CDK for bench warming ?…it’s very annoying for me …I just want to see him get enough play time …he is too good for the bench !!

    1. Just like any new player, CDK needs time to settle in. He hasn’t been even a month in Milan, doesn’t speak the language well enough, doesn’t know the movements of his teammates etc.

The worst thing a manager could do in these situations is to throw him on the field without any preparations and watch him get tore apart by first the opponents and then the media.

Give it a few more weeks and he’ll be the regular #10 instead of Diaz.

  7. People here whines too much. Saelemakers was signed as a right back. Lack of Depth saw him cover that position for us. He was not fantastic but he covered that position well for us. He is still way way way better than clueless messisas

      1. exactly. A paraplegic like Messias is better and more effective despite being here for one season. Alexis for 3 yet no progress.

    1. @Otte

Last season in Serie A : Messias 5 goals, 2 Assists.
Champions League 1 goal, 0 Assists.

      Serie A : Saladmaker 1 goal, 3 Assists.
Champions League: 0 goal, 0 Assists.

30yo delivery driver WHOOPS the “it’s not his fault, he was a RB” 5 times over.

      Guess you’re the clues one.

  8. Saladmaker, please, for the love of Milan, take the German offer. Saladmaker makes me miss Samu. He’s that bad.

    Pretty please!!

    1. At best, Saladmaker can be a wing back.
Not muscular enough, and low defensive awareness will never make me trust him as a right back.

  9. Here we go.

He’ll end up like Samu, Nocerino, Bochetti who all pretty much refuse to go.

    Saladmaker presses well.

That’s it. Loses the ball, can’t cross, can’t shoot, can barely pass. Sassuolo had that little respect for him they pretty much dared us to pass to Alexis. Did Alexis make anyone regret it ?
    Of course not.
So many excuses for this guy “he is young “, “he can learn to shoot” .
    No , he is FODDER.

    1. Saelmaekers is not a bad as we making look. He’s just a young chap and he will definitely grow as he keeps playing. He helps the defense alot by tracking back and also good at pressing coz he’s got energy. Even Leao sometimes disappoint us but we have been patient with him to grow and he’s growing even that he’s not there yet.
Let’s encourage Saelemakers to sometimes be goal conscious and also improve on is crossing on the flanks….
All the players in one way or the other have their own issues.

Tonali missing the brilliant opportunity from CDK’s lovely pass against Atalanta….
      Let’s encourage boyz

  10. Saelemakers was very good at doing his job the first year and a half at Milan. He was playing simple and up to his strengths effort and work rate.
Then he started developing some technical skill, he made a couple good dribblings during games and it went to his head. He started thinking that he is better than he actually is and that gets him in trouble.
He just needs to go back to playing simple , run , hustle, recover the ball and pass it quick to someone that is capable and knows what to do with it.
I don.t think he is a rb nor is he a winger. Maybe a right sided mezzala in 3 man midfield. Box to box midfielder.

  11. Seems like he’s content with being a super sub so I don’t think he’s concerned about his future.tbh he luks better coming off the bench.

  12. If really he loved milan, he should’ve left so we can get a proper RW. He’s been on that wing for 3yrs and still can’t claim it even Jens Petter Hauge, who impressed didn’t get that much opportunity.
Are do we now operate 2 RB in our formation?
