AC Milan could allow Matteo Gabbia to leave the club this summer but they are first waiting on getting a signing done, according to a report.
According to Calciomercato.com, Sampdoria are closely following the evolution of Milan’s pursuit of a new centre-back. The Rossoneri met Fabio Paratici of Spurs yesterday to talk about the possible signing of Japhet Tanganga to Milan, receiving an opening from Tottenham, and that has boosted Samp’s hopes.
Gabbia is one of the first reinforcements requested by their head coach Marco Giampaolo. He likes him and knows him after his 111-day time as Milan boss at the start of the 2019-20 season, while the player himself knows he would get more playing time there.
Milan were initially reluctant to sell the player, but they could open to a loan deal in the event of Tanganga’s arrival, and if that were the case then Sampdoria would be the club on pole to sign the 23-year-old.
Would rather keep Gabbia then go with Tanganga… wow we hate our own don’t we…
” wow we hate our own don’t we…”
The Milan way since Berlusconi bought the club. Only a couple of exceptions to the rule. Sad but true. Milan don’t produce “gems” that often and when they do, they sell them quickly for pathetic sums (e.g. Locatelli).
If ACM hates Gabbia, they will never let Gabbia out on loan and let him be 4th CB until he retired.
Because Gabbia needs playing-time to grows but ACM need quality assured defenders not just some trials.
See how our academy players’ good forms after they leave like : Manuel Locatelli, Tomasso Pobega, Bryant Christante, Aubameyang, Matteo Darmian, dsb. We have many talents but limited senior playing-time.
From what I’ve seen of the two Tanganga is far better, or at least a more finished product. Just because a player came through the Milan youth system is no reason to keep him if there is a better option available. That said, doesn’t Milan need 5 CB’s? Of course, the idea is probably to get Gabbia some playing time to see if he can establish himself which he would not do spending another season at Milan riding the bench as the 5th CB.
