CM: Setback for Milan as Dortmund playmaker sets sights on Roma or Lazio move

By Oliver Fisher -

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze wants to secure a move to one of the Rome clubs rather than Milan this summer, it is claimed.

It was reported by Calciomercato.com on Monday that Gotze will not renew his contract with Borussia Dortmund which expires at the end of the month.

Milan are one of the clubs interested in the idea of signing him on a free transfer with incoming manager Ralf Rangnick a keen admirer of the player, though Lazio, Hertha Berlin and OGC Nice are also apparently keen.

According to the latest from the same outlet however, Gotze became a father on June 6 and his family have already expressed a preference to secure a move to Rome this summer, be that AS Roma or Lazio.

The latter are interested in the 28-year-old but at the moment he receives €7million net per year, a figure he would not like to come down from.

Therefore he is out of budget for Lazio at present, though sporting director Igli Tare could enter negotiations to try and get something done. Milan, meanwhile, wait on the sidelines.
