CM: Several clubs rebuffed in efforts to sign Hauge on loan as Pioli studies a new position for him

Jens Petter Hauge was scouted and signed within 10 days by AC Milan back in the summer transfer window, but the winger has found playing time hard to come by.

Calciomercato.com reports how Hauge had been on Milan’s list of targets for some time, but his performance against the Rossoneri with Bodo/Glimt convinced Maldini and Massara to accelerate their pursuit, to snatch him from the competition and add him to the squad.

The 21-year-old knows that Serie A is not the Eliteserien and that only by applying himself in training and taking advantage of the opportunities when he comes off the bench can he begin to carve out a leading role.

His playing time situation hasn’t been helped by Rafael Leao’s explosion and the fact he contracted COVID-19, but the report adds that Stefano Pioli is working on the possibility of deploying him on the right wing, as an alternative to Saelemaekers and Castillejo.

Not only that, but the Milan boss is contemplating starting him against Lille in the fourth Europa League group game after the international break.

To summarise, Milan are not worried about the Norwegian talent and on the contrary are happy with Hauge’s growth. They have no intention of letting him leave in January on loan, though some clubs have already knocked on the door.
